Dia Dhuit!
My name is Shane, I am 17 years and I’m Irish (Which is rare on Shelfari). I believe that you can only get out of something what you put in! Which is why I put all of my efforts into the projects I start and am introduced to. I love to get on with other people and would never see someone unhappy! I have a lot of faith in young people and represent them at national level in Ireland an indeed Europe as well. My school work is very important to me and I hope to do well in my upcoming exams in June which is why I am taking a few months away from Shelfari to concentrate better
When I joined Shelfari I couldn’t believe the amount of acceptance and encouragement people have for one another and as the shy person I used to be this was something I needed in my life so I decided to stick around and see where I end up. It took me a while to find out how Shelfari worked but once I found my feet and my voice it wasn’t long before I was expanding my knowledge and reaching out to people who seemed to be into the same things as me reading the same books I read.
After I joined a few groups and met some really great friends I felt really at home here and now well I never leave! My day isn’t complete unless I come on here to see what new and exciting books have my friends been reading or check up on new posts in the groups to which I belong.
Most of the online social networking websites I’ve been on or heard about put a stigma on all of them for some parents and I’ve lost count of the amount of times that I’ve heard some of my friends talk about how their parents have forbidden them to come on Shelfari and talk to people they have actually come to know over their time here. That’s another thing I love about Shelfari is that it seems to repulse all those idiots out there who give other websites the bad name which defeats their purpose. Shelfari, I hope, will never have to deal with those kind of people.
Everyone must make their own choices, and accept the consequences. The rest of us must accept those choices, even if we believe them to be discourteous, unwise or even unconscionable, Nevertheless, don't be surprised if I get pissed when your choices affect me in a negative way.
As Aristotle begins his Metaphysics, "All men by nature desire to know." There is something within us, manifested as it is in the entire spectrum of human endeavour, from the sciences, to philosophy, to religion, to the arts, to ethics, that demands we pursue the whole story of the whole cosmos if we are to be whole persons, in order to know who we are, where we are from, where we are going, and how we should live.
Friendship is so cool in my opinion, it’s so powerful and a strong bond if you’re lucky enough to have it. And if you’re my friend;
When you are scared, ...
I will take the piss about it every chance I get.
When you are worried, ...
I will tell you horrible stories about how much
worse it could be and to quit whining.
When you fall, ...
I will point and laugh at you.
Making a million friends is not a miracle,
the miracle is to find a friend
who will stand by you
when a million are against you !!!
As long as we have memories,
yesterday remains,
as long as we have hope,
tomorrow awaits,
as long as we have friendship,
each day is never a waste...
Carpe Diem~
