Remembered you were interested in Chinese stories. Dream of the Walled City by Lisa Huang Fleischman looks real good. I've added it to my TBR pile. Take care of you...

Hi, Yeah I am liking it so far, although I kind of wished I would have known less about the book before I started. Like the one I read before: 'Briefeing before a descent into Hell' by Doris Lessing. Very interesting and surprising book.

    take it easy,

I know - I got really into the series and not just because I'm a girl, they weren't mushy books but the last one I thought was a little disappointing

Hey, I see that you're reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I thought that it was really great, and just about as good as Twilight. I hope you're enjoying it : ) I also see that you're reading Marked by PC and Kristen Cast. I'm reading it right now too. How are you liking it? I don't really think that it's as good as Twilight or anything but it's all right. I'm not crazy about a few of the things that go on, but hey, I'm not even half way through it yet. I'd like to hear your opinion about it. I'll talk to you later!

Saw this quote and thought of you:

Do not put statements in the negative form.
And don't start sentences with a conjunction.
If you reread your work, you will find on rereading that a
great deal of repetition can be avoided by rereading and editing.
Never use a long word when a diminutive one will do.
Unqualified superlatives are the worst of all.
    De-accession euphemisms.
If any word is improper at the end of a sentence, a linking verb is.
Avoid trendy locutions that sound flaky.
Last, but not least, avoid cliches like the plague.

Oh, it is so wonderful to hear from you! I believe you did cover all the holiday greetings!
Sorry to hear about the job. Isn't that so irritating. I had been searching for jobs for over a year and had no response, not even a 'no'! What happened to etiquette or business manners?
Also regret your loss of love. Hopefully you were happy with the time you had. It's easy to say that if it didn't last, it wasn't meant to be.
Glad you are back! We will catch up...
    Take care of you!

Finally got to the last book on my list that you showed an interest in, 'Spares' by Michael Marshall Smith: Interesting sci-fi. People pay to have a clone created when they have a baby, so that when something happens, they have "spare" parts to use. A war veteran tries to help a few of these "spares" and ends up in an unusual situation and with more dnager than he expected. Very intense...a little confusin at the beginning, but smooths out in the middle once he fills in some missing information.

Just finished The 25th Hour by David Benioff. It's one of the books you asked about. It is your style, short chapters...not so much a crime novel as an introspective look at three friends and their memories and actions before one of them is sent to prison. It is very interestingly written and kept my attention.
