Sez, Michele

I enjoy reading a variety of books with a particular emphasis on authors from the African Diaspora, Latino/a authors, as well as books that explore multicultural, education, and social justice issues. I love poetry, mysteries and children's literature. In addition, I have a growing passion for photography.

    LOL! Hi Michele,
The avatar is a picture of a house across the aroyo (sp) from our back yard. The sun and clouds created this wonderful contrast. Changing it to greyscale and enhancing the light on the building in photoshop is all I did. I'm experimenting with more B&W, Sepia, and infrared these days.

Yea, I changed the image for PE. It was just a quick deal, with little prep or thought. I don't want us to lose the book concept. More on that later...

    Peace,

Hey, sorry about the disappearance. Been settling into a new job and getting things going with that, but I'll be around more now I hope. I see Miyuki's got this theme down, I'll tackle the next one when it comes time. :D

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it.
I have recently found myself devouring as many books on photography as I can find & am currently waiting for a Panasonic FZ-28 to arrive via post. I'll be off for a vacation almost exactly as it arrives, and I'll be very happy to share as many photos as you'll all be willing to endure!

I have seen some of the thematic threads & think they're a fantastic idea, and after the vacation I'll try my best to participate in as many as I can!

    Thanks again for welcoming me...

    Hey Michele,

I forgot to say that I like your avatar! I immediately thought of some scenes from one of my favorite movies 'Black Orpheus' (the 1958 original). I love those colors.

    Hi Michele,

LOL, This shot was taken late afternoon; not quite sunset.
It is part of my 'Jesus Sky' series, I call it. When the clouds break after a rain we get these dramatic rays that remind me of all those pictures depicting... Jesus! LOL.

Actually, this city drives me mad because I think it's sooooooooo small, since I am originally from São Paulo. =)

Hi Summer Rain! Yes, this is one of my photos. I was thinking about your avatars when I chose this one. I love to take photos of butterflies. Doing so has taught me to slow down and be patient- something I'm usually not too good at - LOL!

Hi Michele! Stealing a few moments here. Been busy with college preparations, and still not finished. Been so stressed, so am taking this time (midnight) to forget all about that for a while. Seem to be missing a lot - we're on the fifth theme?? Lot of catching up. And yes, will post a theme next time. See you around.

    Yes,
They were at a roadside stand just out side of Santa Fe on the way to Taos!
You have to duck to avoid them.
We bought chilis and peppers there.
