If I ever come to Singapore I would definitely love to meet you.
My eldest daughter is 14, next, a son, 12... then a daughter who is 9 and another boy at the tender age of 3. I was a late starter: not until I became Muslim and married did I start a family. I was 28. My husband is from Malaysia (although he is Chinese) and we met after he followed his spiritual teacher from Pakistan to the U.S. In New Mexico we joined each other on the sacred path of Islam and married in the mountains of Taos. We later accompanied our beloved teacher in hijrah to Indonesia; it has been a blessed journey!

ASA WR WB. So you are driven! This is such very good thing (when we are driven for the right reasons)...I did not read the book Ayat Ayat Cinta: it is true, my Indonesian is not great, but my main excuse is simply "Where have all the hours gone...?"
So you are in the medical field; are you from Singapore originally? If not, how did you come to Singapore?
I love books too, and am surrounded by them constantly; they are my close companions. They teach me so much...I am so grateful to those who are/were so skilled and disciplined to put pen to paper and pour their life's work for all to share. I read mostly non-fiction now, learning about Islam and especially women in Islam. I also study alternative/traditional health care.
Take care and enjoy your latest 'companion'!

Please forgive me. As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. After perusing a few posts, I realize you are a muslim sister. I am curiois about "your story". Do you mind sharing a bit? Originally from the States, I now reside in Indonesia since 9 years ago.

Hello, my friend. I just want to say that I, too, am a working mom in my forties and i have always admired gals like you who manage to "do it all" and still find the time to read all those books. Perhaps time in Singapore is a lot slower than here in Indonesia? (Now if that doesn't sound like an oxymoron!! Indonesia must have the slowest time on the planet!)

Take care and keep up the amazing work. I imagine you to be not only sexy, but very driven as well. Hope to hear from you...;)

wa alaikum salaam, things are going ok, alhumdulilah. That sounds like a good book. I just started doing some book reviews , but Im not a fast reader :) I think about what I am reading, and how I can apply it to my life etc.

Anyways things are ok, Im a little stressed. Kids driving me crazy, not wanting to do their work. I often feel like Im waisting my time. I may just get a job and put them in public school. :( Nothing else to do.

Sometimes I feel like im doing nothing with my life, and time gos by, time I feel like Im waisting.

Hello my dear friend. Is a pleasure to have you as my friend. I read now about " the God of tomorrow". Is an interesting book. It shows more attribute of God the the old church didnt let people know. Is a kind of "mixture" between Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Very interesting approach. What about you? What u read?

No , your not being rude. I converted to Islam after studying various books of scripture, starting with Judaism.
Islam was the only thing that made since to me. My husband is Muslim as well, we dated in High school and got married at 19 years old, we both came to Islam together. He had friends that were Muslim and we talked about Islam and religion a lot over the years. I told him we had so many blessings and needed to be in a church or something. There is a Masjid near my house so we started going there. When I became Muslim I think it was a little after Sept 11th my mom cried, but now she loves the fact that I am Muslim and sees it is not a drastic difference from who I all ready was anyways.

My husband and I did not do Christmas and stuff with our kids, so Islam was not a drastic change. We study a lot a knew the right things and Islam just confirmed what was in our hearts.

The rest of my family is like, we love you no matter what. I think for them they see the old me and the new me coming together and it makes them think about there own life. My brother and a few cousins are interested in Islam, but I think they feel they will have to make a drastic life change.

I feel like Islam changes you, you dont need to change for Allah.
The more you study and read, the more it affects your heart, and thus you feel compelled to change many things , simply because thats is what your heart desires.

Alhumdulilah, I am happy for your cousin. Islam is practiced more by converts, than those born into a family that is Muslim.

No problem. Im American. There is a guy named Stevie Wonder who wrote a song for his daughter, Aisha. It came out the year I was born, 1977. My mom liked it. Isnt she lovely, her name;s Aisha, life is the meaning of her name.

So when I became Muslim, 6 years ago. I told my mom, see I was supposed to be Muslim. Some of my friends changed their name to Aisha when they became Muslim. I was born with it, Alhumdulilah.
