  • His Princess: Love Letters from Your King (His Princess)
    • Rated 5 stars

Loved this book! Each time I read it, something new touches my heart and I am amazed to see how much my King truly loves me. The short passages are great and usually trail through my head during the day, offering the encouragement I need and being the perfect way for me to end a busy day. The verses are also very well matched. I often end up journaling my prayers after reading my page for the day. A wonderful book!

  • Chinese Natural Cures: Traditional Methods for Remedy and Prevention
    • Rated 5 stars

I highly reccomend this book to anyone studying herbs. The folklore behind it is colorful and entertaining, if somewhat sad to think of the poverty that was behind some of this. Practical suggestions are made and there are easy reference tabs, index and other sections to make information easy to reference. Worth the money and the time.

    Loved this-rating 10 out of 10!

    My original review....

Flashpoint is a reading roller coasted of non-stop action and mind-blowing adventure-literally! From the first chapter to the last, you can barely take a breath. We meet our two characters, David and his kid sister Jen, in a running leap for their faith. Their family is captured by Peacekeepers for being “Fundamentalists” –or true Christians. Religion has boiled down to a feel-good-do-whatever-your-supposed-conscience-tells-you-to mindset.

We follow them as they meet a Sandman-and their destiny. David becomes Calamity Kid a sandman in training to serve God and save his family. Jen becomes E-girl, a cyber-hack with totally tricked out web skills. They barely have time to get their feet wet before Calamity Kid begins to see the there’s more than just his family at stake in an epic God’s love versus evil battle. This is where you fasten the seatbelts and whisper a prayer.

Calamity Kid slogs his way through understanding and spiritual growth. He learns to rely on God and not himself, while forgiving a betrayal that cuts at his heart. His sense of humor stays in tact until the end and I cheered when he finally gave his will into God’s hands. The outcome? Read for yourself!

Meaningful verses are well-placed throughout the entire read and the message is expertly presented that you come away with something more than when you started. I started reading before dinner-I don’t remember what I ate, but I do remember what I read. Flashpoint is a favorite that will go down in reading history!

  • The Novelist
    • Rated 5 stars

Guess what I got for Christmas?

A wonderfully, heart-wrenching, soul-searching hardcover edition of "The Novelist". I absolutely loved this book. The two stories were great, they did blend the line between reality and fiction and I think that can happen to writer's who sometimes, need someone to remind them that the life outside of the words is even better. It's fun and it can be pretty neat.
Angela Hunt shows us how writing and regular life can be different and the same, she also had some pretty helpful writing tips in here *hint, hint* and not only did it show a degree of worthy transparency, but also the heartache that comes when we need to let go and let God take charge. Loved this book! I highly reccommend it a 10 out of 10!

  • Isabel: Taking Wing (Girls of Many Lands)
    • Rated 5 stars

Loved this book! I've read most of the "Girls from many lands" books and this was by far, my favorite. I liked the Plot and especially the voice of Isabel. I appreciate the fact that she is somewhat tomboyish, but can be 'proper' if she has to. Disguising herself as a boy and working with the traveling actor troupe, wow, that took some courage. I'm glad that her aunt was actually a really nice person and I enjoyed the voice through which Isabel told her story. The action is more in the middle and the ending is just great, I'm glad that she was able to prove herself-and even save her family after her father sent her away and she had to miss her sister's wedding. A great read!

  • Son of the Mob: Hollywood Hustle (Son of the Mob (Paperback))
    • Rated 4 stars

I thought this book was okay for a spy-fic. I mean, the kid as the MC was kind of dorky. I saw what would happen to him before he started and I didn't appreciate the way that he wasn't able to really stand up for himself. At the end, he did, which I am glad for, or else reading the whole book would've been a waste. The strained relationship between him and his father was pretty interesting, especially when his father does actually go out of his way to get him some legit stuff. I liked that. The ending was a little confusing, but otherwise, not bad at all!

  • Lady of Quality

    by Frances Hodgson Burnett
    • Rated 5 stars

This was one of my favorite books by Frances Hodgeson Burnett. The main character was a woman of strength-and quality. In spite of the circumstances and situations she grows up in, she manages to work her way through them and to do it with class and style. I especially enjoyed how she was able to train horses.
