Scarlett

I am an avid reader, always have something going but don't get to read as much as I'd like. I am a library sub in a school district and enjoy interacting with the kids about books also. Besides reading I love to do cross stitch, knitting, crochet and whatever else catches my fancy.

Hi Scarlett...still you aren't as old as I am...:):(...but I agree...there is nothing cuter then little kids getting all dressed-up in their costumes for Halloween..we hardly have little ones
come around anymore...the neighbourhood is changed, the ones that were my kids age have grown, married and moved out of town...so it usually is pretty quiet..how about your
place...is it busy on the 31st?...

As I said, I'm not big into the horror genre.
Still I have read books similar to Under the Skin, and enough TV and movies have covered
similar ground. I'm being vague, I know, trying not to spoil it.

The book is a very easy read. The author has an excellent style. But the first third or
more of the book is repetitive, in that the same cycle of activities is happening, while
your waiting for something new or some answers to your questions.

When the answers do come, its turf most have seen elsewhere in books or movies. Some
of the topics might be delved into deeper. Perhaps for a younger person who has not
read as much or seen so many Outer Linits, Night Galleries, etc, it might be better because
it wouldn't be old ground. There are some very graphic parts too.

Like I said, the author writes very well. You might wait to get it at the library.

Of you want me to be more specific I can, just let me know.

Looks like you're on a scare tear !!

I avoid horror. Recently I read Under The Skin thinking it was
    a murder mystery...Oops!!

Did you read Death Match by Lincoln Child in audio or print? It has been good but all those 9 digit numbers might have been better to follow in print....

    Hi Scarlett,

I'm back again after a pretty long gap...How are you? Your profile pic is beautiful! Feels good to see the person I have been conversing with since I started out with my Shelfari account :)

Work is as usual fo me... but I've been doing some reading too. I have lately developed an interset in Harry Potter books; I was only watching the movies till now, and I find the books to be better than the movies, of course.

My friends encouraged me to try writing a bit, so I started a blog. But I've just started out and not written much yet. I used to write a bit in my mothertongue Bengali, when I was younger, but I haven't much experience in writing in English.
    Do you write too?

What have you been doing all this while? Any new books that you've found interesting?

    Awaiting your reply... take care..

Hi Scarlett...thank you for the post...I always am amazed when people contact me...but happy...wow, a library sub..perfect place to be and I am sure you add a whole lot more
to the meaning of reading...in a very informative way! Just by looking at your picture this is what came to mind...my first passion is True Crime as you can tell by my username! But
also like horror as in Stephen King and even the odd vampire story, if it is written in the way that makes it so real, you find yourself looking around to see if there could be one out
there lurking about..:) ...anywayScarlett are you reading a particular book that you have on your list...hope to hear from you again and happy reading...Rita

been offline due to internet troubles. I am back online and have added quite a few of my recent reads to my shelf. Just finished Inkdeath by Cornelia funke and while it is a dark book it ended well. I bought Inkheart and inkspell for my granddaughter so now I need to find her Inkdeath. I have now read almost everything by David Baldacci and I have enjoyed every book. I just saw he has 2 new ones out I did not know about...I am on the waiting list for Terminal freeze by Lincoln Child and I hope there will be a new Pendergast by Preston/child soon!

    Hi Scarlett,
It's good to hear from you too!

Wow, a vegetable garden sounds great! So what vegetables have you been growing? My dad used to do that when I was a kid. It was fun cooking vegetables grown in our own garden!

I'm good and work is as usual. Last week was terrible, though, with me having to skip lunch breaks to meet the deadlines :(

You are reading such nice books. I wish i could get back doing that again. i keep reading now and then, but not as regularly as it used to be :( I finished the Twilight series, and i liked it. i am still not sure what to start with. I have "Long Walk to Freedom" by Nelson Mandela on my list, but it's such a thick book, I'm a bit scared :) Maybe I'll start with a Mario Puzo book.

    Take care... and keep writing!
