...So, who am I?

This is a tricky question to answer, as I’m not always entirely sure who I am from one moment to the next. In fact, all I'm certain of is that I'm not quite the same person as I was the day before but lets start with the basic....

My name is...

Scarleth

I might have missed it, but where are you living? (No need to be specific if you'd prefer not to say.)

    Scarleth,
Hi! I feel badly for doing this so late, but I'm going back and answering your posts. I can't remember the exact skating picture now, but it wouldn't have been my son. (I've promised my boys that I won't post pictures of them at all, well, certainly not without their permission). It was probably Evan Lysaceck who was US Mens Fig champ in 2010 I believe or it might have been this year's comp winner Ryan Bradley. Hey, if you don't love skating I might be boring you by now! LOL Anyway, no, not my son. He started skating at 9 and he's 15 now. Pity he didn't start a lot earlier because he is now busy with study and the little ones go through the grades so much faster! But he loves it and we are of course proud!
I almost feel bad saying it given the horrific tragedy in Japan, but no, I never want to go there again. It was one of the worst stages of my life, which I can't blame on Japan as a whole, but it wasn't a good place to have a personal crisis. I've been there many times. My first time was just for 3 weeks - a taster if you like! Then I spent a few years, then some time later went back for 2 months. Guess I'm just over it, though I wrote my first novel very loosely based on my experiences there. I haven't really tried very hard to publish it and I guess I feel I could do better as far as the writing goes, but it was my first attempt, so I'm proud that I did it. I'm studying to be a librarian at the moment, even though only 3 city libraries have reopened after the quake! Not sure if any will be demolished or if the buildings are just being used for other services at the moment - this is pretty common with everything a bit upside down!
I'm guessing you're a student? What are you studying? Do you have dreams past the study yet or not yet decided? I remember never really knowing where I was heading and it used to worry me, but now I think that's quite common. How can you know what you want necessarily when you haven't tested life yet? Of course if you travel alone as I did at a young age, those experiences good or bad shape your view of the world and greatly impact your decision making process. If I was still young and not yet a Mum, I would love to be a criminal Psychologist or a profiler. People's path to crime really interests me and I don't shock too easily. Guess I have a pretty hard view of the world in some ways, which is kinda sad though.
I really ought to go do some study now.
    F :)

Guess what??? AM BACK!!! On the 24th of Feb I had 3 major operations...ALL AT ONCE! Guess that's the best way to do it, just go under one time. Amazingly I was up and walking (power walking actually) by the third day post op! I continue that at home...although weak from being on liquids for so long and still unable to do anything that causes my stomach muscles to tighten, I am better and better everyday. The one thing I can't stand is lack of concentration, which they say is very typical of post major surgery! DRATS! Just wanted to let you know where I've been and why no communication!

On the brighter side, am going to try to start reading again today....really miss that. I want to finish The Shack, the best book I've read in a VERY LONG TIME is not EVER!

Hope you didn't give up on me!!!

Hi Scarleth, yes I will try to acquire the Night Huntress series as soon as I'm able and look forward to swapping notes with. I'm also looking forward to discussing the Shifter series further with you. There's nothing wrong with having a different opinion on books as different things appeal to different people. Thats what makes us all unique. It's nice to be able to chat about what we've read though and even nicer when we stumble across a book that appeals to us all.

I'm loving the Chicagoland Vampire series so far, I'm currently reading the third installment, Twice Bitten. I love the comaderie between Merit and her friend Mallory and think the writing is both smart and funny. I can't wait for the fourth installment in May.

I've heard good things about the Dark Swan series and have recently added them to my wishlist too so thanks for recommendiing them. You asked if I had any recommendations - have you read Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books, Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld or Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire's?

Nisareen - So Much To Read So Little Time says

Hi Scarleth, yes Nisareen is my real name. I have the Night Huntress series on my wishlist and am planning to read them closer to the release of the sixth book in August so I can read without interruption. I've haven't read Nalini Singh's Archangels Consort though I'm afraid.

The Shifter series ended well in the end. I understand you not being a fan of the 4th book though as it was my least favourite of the series. I didn't like the introduction of the thunderbirds at all. Did you not read the 5th or 6th book then? Faythe goes through even more heartache in the last book but makes the right choice in the end between Marc and Jace. I confess I balled my eyes out when Ethan died as he made me laugh.

The Immortals were a very mixed series for me Scarleth. I kept blowing hot and cold with them. Evermore started off ok (I gave it 3 stars) but I hated Blue Moon and Shadowland (2 stars each) Dark Flame was slightly better but I liked the new angle in Night Star with the scary old woman in the dark side of Summerland and her ominous warning. I think it's likely it was a last ditch attempt from the author to re engage readers into the ailing series. My curiosity is piqued in that I'm wondering who she is though. Why was her face so stricken and her eyes staring accusingly at Ever? It's like she's responsible for something. I completely get how you must have found Ever annoying though as she annoyed me too. The way she kept making one bad choice after another was exasperating sometimes. But her lack of discernment (showing poor judgement) was also her weak chakra too.

I've just read the first book in the Dark Elite series by Chloe Neill. It was fun in that I finished it in one night but it wasn't brilliant that I'd recommend it to others. I'm going to read her Chicagoland Vampire series tonight. Have you read them? What are you planning on reading next?

Anyway take care and have a lovely weekend. Bye!

Yes, been a VERY long time....hope that means all is weel and you're busy in a good way! As of tomorrow morning I will be away from the Internet for awhile as I am finally having my surgery I've sought after for so long, or so it seems. Surgeon said it would be 6 months before I can eat anything solid and fully recover. But I figure I'll be away from the internet AYE 3 weeks? So don't be a stranger.

What are you reading now? I'm into The Shcak. So far VERY good!!!

Hope to hear from you son...well, within the 3 weeks!

PS...how do you make our type bold?

    Scarleth,
I'm so pleased to hear from you but will catch up soon. We have had a massive quake here. 6.3 this time but only 5kms deep so destruction is massive. 75 confirmed dead and 300 missing. My family are all still alive, though my youngest had a big scare - he was on the bus in the city and a church collapsed almost on them!
Sorry I haven't answered any of your questions.
talk soon. Really nice to hear from you
    F :)
