An avid reader during my formative years, I lost touch with reading during recent times. I have rediscovered my love of books and have started reading again.
Eventually, I'd like to have a boastful collection of books but for now I'll have to settle with my modest collection.

This was really difficult to read in terms of what Frey was going through. Now that I've read it and even though its a fiction, it doesn't make the chracter's experience any less difficult. Shows the dark side of drug addicts and alcoholics.

This was a pretty good read - Lahiri's writing style really speaks to me and she's a wonderful writer! I"ve also read Interpreter of Maladies and thought that was pretty good too. Would recommend this to anyone who comes from one culture to another.

Absolutely gorgeous to read. It is one of the most thought provoking books I've read in a while. That said, it definitely takes a couple of reads to dig deep into nuances, and there's a new facet within each personality to discover. If only humans could be like Roark - it'd be a very different book. He's an extremely interesting character. I'd definitely recommend this book to people - even if they don't necessarily agree with Rand's philosophy, it's good to analyze through it!

A favorite read of mine from High School. I thought it would be just another boring coming-of-age tale yet it was so much more than that. One of my all time favorite literary works, and I think I even developed a major crush on Holden Caufield.

After reading rave reviews for this book, and finding out that its a Pulitzer winner, I decided to pick it up and give it a try. The characters have a rich history, but at times I wonder if its about their trials and tribulations or whether its about Cal(lie) the hermaphrodite. The first half of the book was hard to get through, boring at some points, but when the story moves forward to Callie falling in love with her best friend, the Obscure Object, it moves all too fast and leaves you wanting more. I still feel ambivalent about how I truly feel for the book; it moved too quickly through Calliope's transition from an adolescent female to a male. I don't think its something I'd be willing to reread, even though I somewhat enjoyed most of the book.

The main premise of the book is that the author met God and wrote this story. Its quite hilarious, although overrated in my opinion. Its very well written, and the characters are those you can easily relate to.

An enjoyable read that provides the perspectives of first-generation immigrants and their struggles as well as their American-born children and their struggles in their homeland. A very wonderfully written novel, that can be reread many times!
