the best ken follett book ever...although the plot steers very close to "the eagle has landed', but still the sheer pace of novel makes it readable.

    die needle.....the needle......loved it.

Loved this books, as its brings out a very sad truth thats emerging. Religion was overthrown and science/business took over, and now they have reached the same stage where the religion was.

the persecuted have become the persecutors. earlier we used to master in theology and latin, and now we chase a degree in business.

and what the businesses are doing is taking over our very lives, changing our thoughts and actions to suit there interest. how they are doing it.....thats what the book is about.
great read, one of my favourates.

the book is divided in to parts based on the progress of the story. It has a lot of similarity with count of montecristo, and can almost be said as a new tale from the old one.

the hero is wrongly accused of murder of his best friend, and his fiancees brother and shipped off to prison based on three false withnesses. when he arrives at prison, he is almost illiterate, and a boor. but he gets two cell mates, one who almost looks like him. as the story progresses, the hero's will to prove his inncoence leads to a murder attempt on him, in which accidently his room mate is killed instead of him, as they look similar.

this guy leaves prison as his room mate and then takes on revenge. how he does it, almost reminded me of not a penny more and not a penny less.

great and fast read. minimal involvement.

the beauty of the book is that you can read from any page, and still you don't feel left out. a very impressive book. sadly banned in UAE.

You should also see the illustrated khalil gibran. he draws equally good.

A letter to the publisher 12books.

    Dear sir,
Yesterday, i went throug Mr. Hitchins God is Not great.

I wanted to believe in what he had to say.

I was looking for something that has escaped the obvious.
Which could only be brought forth by a good research.

But uninspiringly, the research itself was lacking. right from the third page, the book was a drudgery, with more questions than answers, and then bad research.

The biggest example would be when he claims that 'the president" of india was killed by LTTE.

It was an EX-Prime minister out on an election rally.

The book overall lacked form and had a hint of structure. He delved into a sensitive topic, and instead of adding something to the subject, went on to just bring it down to the level of a pot-boiler.

I was hugely dissappointed. I would have asked for the refund of my time spent on the book, had i not known better.

The book was just a notch better than the movie which is rare now-a-days. But the philosophy entwined with a murder mystery is what keeps us till the end.

the book was bad...i just picked it up becauyse of a marvelous covr and then was forced to finish it..but there was no suspense, and the loose strings were somehow joined in the end with a lot of glue called the suspension of disbelief.
