29th march]] read one book a day this whole week with Thursday being one book + two movies.hint: avoid "bobby z"...and "spider wick chronicles" also wasn't that great.....Clive cussler's "Inca gold" and Baldacci's "collectors" on my bedside.finished "Anansi boys" and "overlook" in last two days.
------------------------------
23rd March:, managed to some how find time this one friday to read lee child's "bad luck and trouble", revisited the "brave new world", and "no.1 ladies detective agency", also the "boy in striped payjamas" atlast. just had one friday with me, so mainly thin books, to keep me sane.

18th feb:
Drastic slowdown...not been able to read anything since last two weeks, too much work. After staring at a screen for 10 hours, trying to make sense out of those spread sheets, and numbers, can't focus enough...
"origin of wealth", "boy in striped pajamas" and "the long tail", lie next to my pillow every night, but just can't pick them up, coz i know, that i really have to listen to what they have to say.watched 14 movies though in two weeks......had missed out on
transformers, shrek3, sleepy hollow, ATL, Condemned(rip off of hard target and running man), 1408(Stephen king), blood and chocolate, zaruthra, holy man(was a lot like spell binder by Harold Robbins), bring it on-2...and i can't remember the rest....rewatched unbreakable(i think should be one of my all time favourates) and broken arrow,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS week....watched 7 movies(father of the bride I & II, the last mimzy, gattaca, smallville, Butterfly effect two,the final cut)
Read...jhumpa lahiri's latest book...
an unaccustomed earth...due to be released in April.
If you have read the name sake, you can easily skip it. As the same elements, exist through out the book. More or less its just a continuation of the story. In this one, the mother dies and father survives. Nothing fresh and exhilarating. Its hard competing against oneself.
]]]THE SUPERCRUNCHERS was a find though. explores how data - based decision making is coming to an age and few simple regression equations have beat the classical experts. Cross between freakonomics and wisdom of the crowds
]]]The third book again was crap, called "the twilight of atheism in modern world". irrational bantering of some one who wants to pass on his belief but has no logic to support it, and so ends up writing a book disguising belief as logic, and supporting it with hearsay, and attributed quotes.
]]]] fourth book again was crap "god is not great"...started of well, but poor research killed it. And i guess whenever columnists start writing(who have been voted as 5th most intellectual man out of 100)....they become too sure of themselves and don't bother to check fatcs. at least 13 research errors. biggest ones...LTTE taught suicide attacks to Al-qayda (hamas did-1983)....Indian President was killed by LTTE (it was an ex-prime minister).
]]]]ON UGLINESS by Umberto eco(edited by).....marvelous...live to read such books with content...research...and then some how author manages originality on a topic on which every walking person has opinions and reasons. Its on how the art has changed through out history to reflect beauty as well as ugliness, and what is therefore considered ugly, what are the factors that shape it, and one man's ugly is other man's beauty.
The best chapter was "ugliness in Music".A thick book Full of lovely art plates, deep thoughts, glossy pages, and conversations with both genius and the commons.
Day by day its becoming tough...have to sift through 6 books to find one good and one average.
