Howdy! I am a Texan living in Bristol, England with my English husband and daughter dog. I have been a teacher for 12+ years and find self-fulfilment in helping children to love books. My favourite reads are everyday peoples autobiographies, teen adventure/sci-fi, and ??? I can't seem to categorize my reading habits!

I really liked this. It was nothing like the Hunger Games even though the description gave me that impression. The ending left me questioning, which is always great for improving intelligence! I don't know what I would do if I was the main character...

Everything was great and I was all excited about book two when BAM the story ends and I mean ENDS! Spoiler Alert.... I wish the author had not ended the book so abruptly but I guess you could have them pick up again with the last sentence. I just didn't feel a lot of closure or get any answers I was looking for. Will have to be on the look out for more by this author and see if this type of ending is habitual.

A good first try with an interesting idea. The story just really needed to be told in more depth, but maybe the future episodes will give us a deeper picture of this post apocalyptic Earth. Wish I could say more but the characters did not develop enough for a review of the writers abilities. Looking forward to the next piece Neslon writes to get a flavour for his style.

Started out interesting with a mystery to keep you interested. Then suddenly at the half-way point the mystery is solved and what is the point now? Sorry guys but this just doesn't hold the interest.

It was ok. An easy read with a fairy tale type of feeling until the ugly truth rears it's head. As long as you don't try to take it seriously and just go along for the ride it is an enjoyable couple of hours.

Now this book was even better than the first novella and much longer! Loved it and can't wait for the third volume. Nice to read such a gem that has unique qualities without trying to be too unbelievable. Much is explained in this book about the back story for the series. You won't regret purchasing this plus all proceeds go to Doctor's Without Borders!

Enjoyed this after I got over trying to be cynical and making comparisons to HP. This is not a simple teen super hero book so beware. Violence abounds and you will be as shocked as Asa, the protagonist, at the actions of the supposed leaders in this series. Once you have read this novella you need to check out book two it is TWICE as good!

A scifi climbers dream novella. Why in the heck would you be stupid enough to do this and then live?

Not too bad but she has not written a sequel so it was disappointing. The concept of the US turning into a nation confined to its own borders and imprisoning all who deviate doesn't seem to far fetched if I am honest. How are these two going to make a difference?

Read this because I am trying to read all of Hugh Howey's books. It is a teen novel that will always remain a teen novel. The first chapter ends with a boy deciding to pleasure himself but I thought would still give it a go. In all actuality it was not terrible but just not a book I was moved by. It does have a relevant message for today's teen although the teens who need the message the most are unlikely to read it.
