“I'm not the biggest contemporary romance/women's fiction fan, but the unique storyline carried this book for me. It's a fast-paced read with simplistic language--almost too simplistic at the start of the novel. I'm a bigger fan of volatile, sparks-flying relationships with brooding lead males, but T.J.'s compassionate nature won me over eventually. I feel like this book had a lot of untapped potential, especially in regards to their time spent on the island. Having the deus ex machina of suitcases wash up seemed a bit too easy, but maybe I was just really excited for a Lord of the Flies-esque contemporary romance. A bigger island with more mysteries to explore could have benefited the story as well, giving the characters something to do other than ask, "Want to go swimming?" every chapter. Overall a decent beach (har-har) read, but it didn't live up to the super-hype of its amazon reviews.”
