Astonishingly beautiful. It got to the point where every time I opened the book I would cry, it was so lovely. The human comedy at its best (or worst?).

Brilliant premise for a book: why smart kids are smart. In a move of sheer genious (as if Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler wasn't enough), Konigsburg explores the reasons why kids know what they know; the places we pick up trivial knowledge are so obscure, and she traces the routes so surely. Fascinating.

If Paul Fleischman asked me to marry him tomorrow, I would. Hands down, no contest. His books make me think about things in newer, bigger ways. His characters are counter in a way that I would love to be. I want to square dance in Maine and make things with my hands, dammit! Too bad I have to work for my living.

"I thought: 'That is the fear: I have lost something important, and I cannot find it, and I need it. It is fear like if someone lost his glasses and went to the glasses store and they told him that the world had run out of glasses and he would just have to do without.'" Lovely prose. I want John Green to write poetry, too.

This is the book I read to help me go to sleep after watcing scary shows as a kid. All evil thoughts brought on by too much "Unsolved Mysteries" banished by just a few quick, quirky poems.

This book has everything worth talking about: food politics, American imperialism, and phone sex all rolled into one completely engrossing novel.
