Thanks for the note and recommendations. I have been soooo busy with work I haven't had anytime to read. I have my wish list ready to hit Barnes and Noble. I was out in LA for work and Borders had the lady off of Top Chef signing books. The day we left they were having Rachel Ray. That is about as much contact to a book I have had since October. I have some catching up to do. Hope you had a great holiday. Wishing you the best for 2008!

I am reading all the notes on Water for Elephants. have your read it? It came highly recommended but haven't got to read it yet. Now that my daughter is back in school I will have more time for reading. Any other recommendations you want to send my way is always appreciated. It is hard to keep up with all the new books. Have a great weekend!

    Good morning,
I finished Water for Elephants. It is not what I expected. It takes place in a circus, (yes), the elephants does have a place in the book and what it points out to me, where ever there is a family there are problems, where ever you have groups you have paring off, status struggles. It is about relationships and cruelty within the structure. Then throw in love. I also read THE LEGEND, that was really good to me. Ask Hamchuck what he thought, but I really enjoyed it. Actually I am still reading the book, because after the story of the legend, he has other short stories. Hope you are having a good summer.

    Good morning,

I hope you had a nice fourth. We went to the zoo. Hamchuck and I are photo nuts, so we went with my son and his wife and daughter. We are trying to give her the bug. So far she loves it, it is fun seeing her look for photo oppertunities. As I wrote on May 25th my son is Bi-polar and is not level and cleaning up the mess. I am very pleased with his progress and how this time he realizes this Bi-polar is powerful. We all had a nice time.

Now for Waters for Elephants I am about 35 pages in, so far it has been still. Will keep you informed on that.

    You have a great day.

I guess the concept was neat and must have been tremendous for the author to write. Because of that it kept me reading and I engaged in the puzzle. I was expecting to love this book. I did not love it, I liked it and respected the writer. I would love to know what happens to the little girl. This is my note in on my shelf. I wonder if they are opening it up by adding the little girl. The he is 20 she is 12, he is 35 sh is 16 thing was distracting. You know I wondered while I was reading this, was it the women in me looking for a happy ending that kept me going. I have just read White Oleander again. I really think I was sleeping through that the first time, I am really enjoying that. I am reading Water for Elephants at the moment. So far it has me. Thanks for writing. I wish this thing had check spell, forgive my misspellings.

The gym huh. That word is banned from my vocabulary :).
Although I need to do something to get rid of my excess pounds.

My wife and I have toured Colorado twice, but did not get to Estes park. We traveled the southern half extensively, with Durango being our favorite town. Took the Durango/Silverton Train which was a lot of fun.

The photo of unicorn42 (wife) below was taken in New Mexico at Billy the Kid gravesite. We used to take a road trip every year from 1998-2002 but haven't been on a one since 2002, and it is one of my big regrets.
In Colorado we stayed in Glenwood Springs, Colorado Springs, Denver, and of course Durango.

I hope it is okay to leave you a note. As Hamchuck is saying we love Lost and The Office. I was sad about Charlie. Dysfuncitional familes lord to we have that market cornered. I am not really sure what normal is but would like to at least try it out. My son who is Bi-polar is fresh out of an episode and working very hard to put humpty dumpty back together again. I will look up the Glass Castle.

My wife and I weren't sure we would like the American version of The Office after seeing the original U.K. series, but this has become one of our favorite shows. Steve Carell is great. I would love to work for a boss like him. We always feel a bit sorry for him though.
And the cast of misfits blends perfectly. Dwight Schrute is a demented fool, we all know kiss butts like this guy at work.
Just saw Lost finale last night (recorded). It does leave you wondering where they are going with the show now. Sad to see Charlie knocked off, although on this show, one is never off.

PS] a fun crazy family book is "All Families are Pyschotic". Not a believable story, but fun.

Hello there. I like these friend lists because it shows notes by date. Looks like April 11 was my last message.
I am reading The Road at the moment. Started off slow but now I am enjoying it.
P.S. did you see The Office finale?

Thank you for the book recommendation. I will look for it.

The Office is hilarious. Sometimes you have to feel sorry for Michael. He means well but is entirely LOST. His sidekick cracks me up also. Speaking of Lost, it is another of our favorite shows, albeit somewhat confusing at times.

I applaud the work you do with the mentally ill. Having a few family members that have and currently suffer from various diseases (bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s), I understand the strength and compassion necessary to deal. In fact my wife’s son has once again destroyed his life in a matter of a month from a bi-polar episode. This seems to happen about every year and half. When not in an episode, he is a fantastic person. We are trying to guide him toward a path that will lessen the severity of his episodes right now.

Sorry to ramble on. BTW what did you think of Time Travelers Wife. It is on my wife’s night stand ready for her to read.

Hey. Thank you for the note. As for Sharp Objects--a friend recommended it because I enjoy darker books and it was a fun, easy and entertaining story. The Lolly Winston I haven't started yet, but I seem to remember I liked another one of her books. As for the diet books, I prefer the Bob Greene book. It has great recipes and good text. The You on a Diet book is too cutesy for me although it simplifies pathophysiology and anatomy for a lay person. Hope this helps....

HI! I think I am honored to be the first to leave a note on your bookshelf. I must say that I was surprised by how many of the same books that we have read. You must be rubbing off on me! Mom
