I hope you find them helpful. I won't lie--they were painful to read--but I've been putting some of the techniques for setting boundaries into use for the last year and my stress levels have gone way down. Stay in touch if you need someone to talk to. Wendy has my private email so you can contact me that way if you prefer.
Take care of yourself and your lovely sweet kids!
Sarah, I just read your note in Crossroads and wanted to send a reading list of titles my therapist (who specializes in treating people injured by narcissist parents) has given me. I've found the various chapters on setting boundaries quite helpful:
Will I Ever Be Good Enough? Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers
Children of the self-absorbed a grown-up's guide to getting over narcissistic parents
Stop Caretaking the Borderline or Narcissist How to End the Drama and Get on with Life
There are a lot more titles available but these are good starts if you're interested.
Wishing you all the best!
I just realized that half of your books are books we have in common. We are family and we live walking distance from each other! Oh well, I didn't plan on leaving my books to my family anyway. I don't want to separate my beloved books. I want them all to go somewhere together. Someplace like a women's shelter.
Hi St Sarah! Your shelf is growing; by the time your my age your shelf will be in the 1000s! You should start a shelf for my granddaughter. I know she has books. If you start her shelf now that will encourage her to read even more.
I love you!!
