    The Ancient One says

Life is a journey of sacred choices, a heart centered endeavor of love in which the whispers of our spirits open our souls to greater possibilities and higher blessings. If you allow your soul to sing a lullaby of love to all humankind you will walk with the angels into a life of lush gardens and rainbow light. Life is what we make it, so let your goal be to create an existence where you soar freely into the heavens of happiness.

Now you are talking my language. For young Russia, non-fiction wise I'd recommend a book called Godfather of the Kremlin by Paul Klebnikov. It's about how Boris Berezovsky made his money and screwed over a lot of people, including state officiials in the process, grim but interesting. The Victor Pelevin and Rubanov novels on my shelf are also well and truelly worth a read.

As for Soviet history, there's some of stuff on my shelf that's worth a read but I haevn't updated it for awhile. Willie Taubmann's biography of Khrushchev called 'Khrushchev, The man and his era' is very infromative and reads like a James Ellroy novel. Sheila Fitzpatrick's Everday Stalinism and general work on that period is very good as well.

Glad you liked the documentary as well, Adam Curtis is a really underrated journalist in my view. His documentary Century of the Self is probably his best.

Yeah, it really is, it explains a few of the books on my shelf. His other documentaries are worth checking out as well. What's the New Cold War book that you have just read like? I haven't really kept up to date with what's happening about Young Russia bookwise, since my studies focus on the Soviet Union. Is it worth a read? because the title makes it sound horribly one-sided.

Cheers for the add. If you enjoy Ghost Wars, i would suggest searching for a documentary called 'The Power of Nightmares' by Adam Curtis, if you haven't already. It was broadcast a few years ago on the BBC and you can find it pretty easily on youtube. It's a fascinating programme and it's really, really worth a watch.

Hi, I have seen your shelf. I believe sharing about the books you read with someone that read it is v, good in helping one to help understand better and not forget the contents of the book. I wanted to know if you are willing to share your thought about the books we read and are reading, like The Collapse, Guns, Germs ...,?
