It has been an enduring love affair. My relationship with books goes back to as long as I can remember. I don't visualise a foreseeable end to this liasion.
The relationship has its ups and downs; days of intense passion and then some of the legendary cold shoulder. But even during the most frigid phase, there remains an ache, however deeply buried, that just doesn't subside.
Right now the relationship is in a dizzying stage of exploration. It has moved from the conventional to the hitherto unimaginable, probing new areas of intellectual pleasure and delight with a gusto previously missing.
The reward is in knowing that the relationship is none the worse for all the experimentation it is being put through. It abides and strengthens day by day. « less
