My favorite part of writing is when the story just falls from your fingers as though the thought is just appearing on the page. My least favorite part is the realization that my fingers have made terrible mistakes, having failed to fully flesh out the secondary character and created plot holes. Bad fingers.

Books I love: Strong, quirky narrators. Self-effacing voices. The morally ambiguous situation. People who play with language. Books that make you work. Women who write like men, men who write like women.

Books I hate: Ultra-macho traditional canon stuff. That means you, Hemingway. You too, Melville. Get out of here Milton. Faulkner, I see you lurking back there, move it! Steinbeck... okay you can stay. I love you. Have a soda. « less
