my temporary dimentia upon arrival at the library.

i've been forced to buy some books because the fargo library didn't have them. the second sex, manufacturing consent, doors of perception....surely no one would ever want to read those when they could read The... more »

confirmed my decision to be a history major. it's more than absolutely necessary for us to know information such as is introduced in this book. perhaps if we had to read books like this in high school instead of textbooks of hero worship and omitted details, then more people would vote for the president than american idol.

hilarious when i first began to read it, the footnotes really grabbed my attention. i appreciated the examples of how misleading statistics and political pundits can be, but sometimes the examples were found within the book itself. I agree with Fence that the material was much too all-or-nothing. although i agree bill o'reilly and ann coulter are douchebags, i think that a better arguement could be made, perhaps one that didn't give the term liberal such a radical connotation.

makes one consider the lack of Boys Gone Wild and wet boxer brief contests in today's society. a good explanation of why the confusion of the feminist movement led some to better jobs, others to breast implants, and the rest confused as hell.

i read this during high school, and afterwards questioned the authority of all of my teachers. a wonderful book for those who are open to the idea that government funded public education may leave out a detail or two about the land of the free.

the abortion argument made me laugh out loud to consider how it may be perceived. thoughtful arguements backed by sufficient logic.

i cherish this book because it was my first encounter with that feeling that the author understands you. if you weren't oblivious in middle school and high school, then you too probably understood what it feels like to be an outsider who watches everyone else acting in the grand play, but who can't seem to find your lines.
