My favorite books have a little magic, a little romance and a lot of hope. Humor is a plus. My dream is to publish novels that appeal to readers like me, readers who love authors like Jonathan Carroll, Spider Robinson, Susan Cooper and Neil Gaiman.

    Going Native

I'm the author, Sally Felt. Violet's story was cathartic to write, being that I was a Good Girl like her for many, many years. It can be tough to break free of that role, and Violet's first steps are awkward. Lucky for her, she's got great sex with Eddie to keep her motivated.

Hooray! Evelyn Vaughn is back. Tightly written plot, vivid (and witty) characters, and the promise of additional, related books to come.

I've enjoyed Lori Handeland in the past, so this book left me disappointed. It felt very "by the numbers," following the successful formula of Hamilton's early Anita Blake books. And by the end, it felt like the sex was getting in the way of addressing the story rather than moving it along. Bottom line: recommended only for those who've never read Guilty Pleasures, et al.

So richly textured with detail and authentic character emotion, it became completely real. And funny. This was my first Vorkosigan adventure and I had no trouble stepping into this wonderful series.

Excellent audio rendition. Brendan Fraser gives each character a distinctive voice. One thing I wish I'd known about this book, though--the ending is not so much conclusive as setting up the next book.

I read this book for a client project. The fact that I needed to skip around to find the material most useful to me probably hindered my enjoyment of it. Still, I appreciated the author's insights and ability to bring in relevant bits of related history.

Beautiful prose. Lots of humor. And a completely unexpected story. What more could I ask?

I imagine this is one of those books you won't read before you're ready. Zukav's prose is often so abstract that it's bound to confuse -- or bore -- readers who aren't in the throes of the experience he describe, and even then, it's hard to grasp some of his message. I feel I "got" much of it, certainly enough to have me eagerly reading on, but I'm planning to reread it periodically to pick up the bits that sailed past me because I didn't yet have a way to understand them.

What an amazing story, and Dr. Nielsen's experience was only part of the "wow" factor. Her descriptions of life at the South Pole are mind bending. I will never look at a stuffed animal the same way again. :)

A freaky, wonderful, sometimes difficult exploration of the possibility that humanity is hurtling toward a massive shift of consciousness that will transform our planet, our societies, our very understanding of "reality."
