Rosy

On my shelf are books that my husband and I own and books that I have read and (if I do not own them) have some reason for adding--even if it's only that many of you have read it and I want to chime in or let you know I haven't missed it.

I don't necessary recommend Reese Howells: Intercessor---I mean, his experiences are amazing, but some would think they're a little over the top or off the wall. I'm okay with all that, but the writing leaves much to be desired. It's not a great book---but if you feel like you "should" read it, then you won't be the worse for having done so.
I moved Lucia, Lucia off my "Am Reading" shelf, because I opted do go a different route. I've decided that it's high time I read all the Anne books---Anne of Green Gables, et al. So I will do Lucia, Lucia at another time---I really enjoy Adrianna Trigiani's books. She's a good writer.
I know your plan-to-read-list is full, but I would recommend a few: 1. Anonymous--Jesus' Hidden Years and Yours by Alicia Britt Chole, 2.The Mark of the Lion trilogy (A Voice in the Wind, An Echo in the Darkness, and As Sure As the Dawn) by Francine Rivers--these are Christian Historical Fiction and they're good---not cheesy! 3. The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeanette Walls---it gets rave reviews on Amazon.
Are there any you would particularly recommend to me?

Hi Rosy! I had to laugh when I read your profile for I too have done the Lenten fast of fiction. I read "Reese Howells--Intercessor" during that time, but nthing else. I decided that's not the best route for me. I love real stories and memoirs, but I think when I felt "deprived" it made it unenjoyable. I'm looking forward to perusing your shelf and getting recommendations from you for great books. Have a good day.

Rosy, if you want to find out more about Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth, there is a discussion going on in the Seekers group under the discussion title Eckhart Tolle-A New Earth.

I see that you are reading The Four Agreements. It is one of my most valued non fiction books. Do you like it?
Speaking of non fiction books, have you read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle? It's the book that this author and Oprah are having a ten week online class. It's already into the second week/chapter. I am really getting a lot from the class along with the book.

    Hi Rosy,
Little Miss and Mr. Men books were popular with my little son who is now 30 years old!
Yes, I do have your address change, but I'm not sure which is the new one and which is the old one, sorry. Perhaps you could resend me the new one and I will update my address book.

I'm glad you like Brideshead Revisited too. I read it because I was captivated by the TV film. The edition I read had a wonderful introduction which explored E. Waugh's conversion to Catholicism and how it is reflected in the novel. The different ways in which faith influenced the lives of the characters is an amazing expression of how inscrutable God's ways really are. This reminds me I have to add books to my shelf.

I was rather surprised and also pleased that you're not reading novels during Lent; it must be quite a sacrifice for you which many might not understand, but which I do. Yvette

Rosy, I don't have access to your "Send a Private Note" feature. It might be because we have to be "friends" for that function to be available. Or it might be because in your Home options you have that option unchosen.

Rosy, you might be interested in reading The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff.
If you go to my shelf and click on "Review" (in the drop down menu on the top "ledge of the shelf"), you can read my reactions to those books (and others).
Have you read any Oprah book picks? Are you going to read her new NON fiction pick, Eckhart Tolle's A New Life? I finished it over the weekend and have signed up to participate in the webinar (web seminar) that she and Tolle will be giving on the book beginning on March 3rd.

    Hi Rosy,
First off, I love your avatar. Pooh is a long time friend of mine for many sentimental and life learning reasons.
About my paper dolls: I do cut them out and store them in several different ways. I have little freinds who occassionally come over and play with them. I have a Snapfish album that shows a very small sampling of my collection and how I store them. If you'd like to view it, send me your e-mail address and I will send you an invite.
Do you have an interest in paper dolls or any other hobbies (besides reading :-)?

Rosy, I posted a new thread on the LB group about getting together for a book meeting in March or April. No responses yet. Wondering if I should send notes to the group alerting them of the post, since it seems to be pretty inactive right now. Anyway, you know, post a response if you have time. Thanks.

Thanks, Rosy. I actually joined the LB Group a week or so ago, but haven't done much looking around. Hope to soon. Maybe we can coordinate a book to read for March and meet at one of the many fine bookstores in the Long Beach area. We could even pick a non-fiction one to keep you from falling off the Lent wagon.

Thanks for the encouraging words, it's nice to know that I'm not writing into a vacuum. I suppose I should add comments for the second half of my shelf?!
