Rosalia

This year my fabulous husband and I celebrated eight years of marriage. We also have our first pet, a cock-a-poo named Leo. Having a full-time job and attending college has severely cut into my reading time. For the last three years I have read mostly textbooks. During a short break I tried to cram in as much pleasure reading as possible. ... more »

Welcome Rosalia! I hope you were able to get some pleasure reading before embarking on your Master's -- what are you studying?

Have you read Frank McCourt Angela's Ashes? I was saddened to hear he died. I've been meaning to read 'Tis and Teacher Man -- now I feel very compelled!

Hi Rosalia. Congratulations on continuing your studies. I checked out your wish list and would encouraged you to read all the ones we have in common. I have another for you I just finished. The Host by Stephanie Meyer. It's science fiction, which I usually don't read; but the science fiction story is the vehicle to teach us about the wonders of the human spirit.

I know what you mean. My husband's in that situation now. He took too much time off and now he's trying to go back. Fortunately I never took time off, just changed my major enough times that it gave me a few additional years of school. I don't know which is better. :o)

This place is really nice too because it is sure expanding my reading horizons, I was very much in a rut (btw another vote for the True Blood series) I have never seen the show even though its on my Zip list :) Twilight will good was not 'astounding' IMHO and certainly not for what I would feel comfortable letting my teenager read! I gave my copies of the series to the local library who didn't have them yet.

The Sookie books are pretty different. The cast is the same. True Blood has added some extra characters and differed the story lines. The books are easy to read and have just great stories. The Sookie books are about Sookie and the people she encounters where as Twilight is a love story between Edward and Bella. Also, the Sookie books are written for adults, so there is some sex and violence. I hope you enjoy them.

Well it is different but I am enjoying both the books and the show. I recommend both. THese aren't to be taken seriously. THis is sheer escapism. Sometimes I just need to take a break from all the historical fiction/non fic that I read. I don't usually read these types of books (vamps, weres, etc.) but this departure from the norm is proving to be fun. TAke care

Me too! But it sure is nice to talk books and whatnot. We are pretty isolated out here so talking books never happens lol
