What are u going to school for? Good for you! I think about going back but I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up!
I am reading nothing right now because I am painting, painting, painting. I should be in my house in two weeks and then I can read by the pool. Hooray!

Polly, I couldn't stand Bitter is the New Black. I read a few chapters and threw it down. I was mad because I can't tell you how many people told me, "You will LOVE this book!!!!!" It made me wonder if I am that whiney?
I just read Not Lost Forever. HORRIFIC story but quick read and makes you wonder how people survive bad childhoods.

Girl is my favorite book ever. It is a very easy read. It was in Sassy Magazine before it was a book. I hope you love it. Don't ever watch the movie though because it is horrible.
Home now. Started reading the BEST book on the plane-Homemade Life. Each chapter is a short little story and a recipe with it. Makes me hungry but it's a great read...

Hey Polly. Happy Holidays to you as well :-). I read some reviews on Freakonomics; it looks like it could be a good read. I'll have to check it out; right now I'm nerding out on a book called Personal Knowledge by Michael Polanyi. I'm applying to grad school, so it seems like a good time to look into a book about the nature of knowing.

I will look for that book. After the holidays we should pick a book. I am going to be in Ri for a week starting Friday. It's totally crazy with family stuff but maybe I can get to IP one night. Or maybe you and Heather could meet us out at Perro for drinks and ribs?

Bonk was entertaining for sure; I'm reading a snoozer right now so I'll have to check out 'Stiff' in lieu of my current book.

I know what you mean. SHe is so wacko thru most of the book, that when she is normal its not as fun.
I started to read Naked Lunch. I have no idea what is going on. I gave up after 9 pages. Its all over the place. There is no plot line....it is literally just the ramblings of a junkie. Total nonsense.
Monster of Florence was amazing. Secret History is a must read too. I will have to pick up Waiting.

thanks for the add Polly :) I have a friend at work that said "Carrie, I need an intervention!!" she's reading five books at the same time. :) (lol) I'm always, always reading something too. I used to run a women's literature/film community group in college called Uncommon Grounds. I miss the community of readers and women to just hang with. So I'm a pretty solo reader now- but then as book people it's pretty much are nature to be solitary people at times.

anyway, it would be cool to swap book rec.'s with you and get to know you a little. thank for the add.

I knowwww! She is amazingly off! I love her. I'm not jazzed about her recipes bc they are meaty and fatty (and I don't have her metabolism)...but I love that whole book!

If you're looking for a wierd read/classic book, try Naked Lunch. Whoa. Reading it now.

That's pretty much my take on it tool. I'm surprised to see you've read Bonk*; it was given to me by a friend and it seems a very obscure book, but it is highly entertaining.
