This novel reminded me of cheap candy, it's not the best you ever had but that doesn't mean it didn't still taste good.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced readers copy of Heartsick and really enjoyed this serial killer drama and read it in two days. A frighteningly sick female predator. I loved the psychology. The only draw back was that it was a bit predictable. Loved the characters and would be surprised if someone doesn't snap up the movie rights.

Enter the sexually conflicted mind of Elio, a 17 yr old ingénue, son of a renowned author who takes on an intern each year. This year its Oliver with his movie star looks and swagger that causes our young protagonist lustful angst. The prose of this gorgeous little novel is stunning in its ability to transport you to Italy and much of its beautiful countryside. If you want to take a stroll through the mind of the young adult, here is ample opportunity, but buyer beware, this tale is sexually explicit and not for the faint of heart. While the ending falls a bit flat this gem is still well worth the read.

Not my favorite T.C. Boyle book, I just couldn't invest in the characters.

You just can't help loving Jaime and Claire even if the story is entirely repetitious with overly gratuitous love scenes. As long as you aren't expecting escalation or something new, then this next book in the series is a satisfying rendezvous with the characters.

The writing style was overly verbose, containing details that the majority of the population will find little interest . Characters lack warmth and depth.

It was enjoyable to find new Dystopian, young adult fiction to sink my teeth into. A society where everyone is rendered beyond beautiful for their sixteenth birthday is more frightening than it seems. A quick, thought provoking read, maybe a bit over-simplified but engaging none-the-less.
