“I really enjoyed this book. I listened to it on audio and the author reads it herself - not always a good thing, but in this case it added a great deal. It was a very natural reading that seemed almost as if you were sitting having a drink with the author and she was telling you her life story. I really admired her straightforward honesty about her shortcomings and weaknesses, and I've read very few memoirs that are as honest. I related to the author's connection with God in a personal way, although I haven't had the intensity of experiences she described. I wouldn't be able to let go as completely as she did in Italy, giving herself over completely to hedonism (at least with respect to food and drink) but I admired that she immersed herself in her environment (as she did all of the places she visited.) Overall, interesting and very real. ”
