This was recommended several times by someone very dear to me. I'd not heard of it. I found it to be quite an excellent book. The characters are good, though the main "family" are, to me, unlikeable as personalities, they become somewhat sympathetic by the end. It is a very plausible story, richly imagined and well written. Recommended.

Lewis Shiner's first novel, when he was one of the original Cyberpunks. A group returns to the moon to rescue possible survivors of the first Lunar colony. Explores man's relationship to his technology, and what can happen when things go wrong. Gritty and realistic.

This is an archetypal story. Man gets a message from the love of his life he hasn't seen in many years. She's on a wandering planet, about to pass permanently out of the system. He travels there to fight on her behalf. The novel has plenty of action, tight storytelling, a good plot, without excessive wordage. An excellent read.

Great historical novel. I read it in a single sitting. Good characters, historically accurate, well drawn, easy reading. Highly recommended.

C.J Cherryh is one of my favorite writers. She creates great characters and interesting stories in believable settings. These novels were well written when they came out and still hold together well. More Space Fantasy than hard sf, the science still holds up. Having this trilogy available in a single volume makes reading them easier for new readers. I had to wait for each subsequent!

Still my favorite Lewis Shiner novel, and not because I'm mentioned in the dedication. The storytelling is excellent, with well drawn characters, a complex enough but easy to follow plot, action, love, sex, drugs, time travel - what more could you want?

Great crime novel from the UK's best current writer in the genre.
