Your right that definitely shouldn't stop me! I don't mind Fantasy books that seem like they have already been written 100 times before so long as it's a good story (and I think most fantasy stories are). Even the kind were your thinking to whoever the main character is, "Come on! I've figured it out, why can't you? It's not that hard!" lol
Sure! What did you think of The Sword, The Ring, and The Chalice Series? I haven't read them yet, but I have heard good things.
