Great to hear from you! And thanks for the recommendation. Do you mean this book?
    http://www.shelfari.com/books/95755/Faith-of-My-Fathers-(Chronicles-of-the-Kings)

I find that when I can't find the book on advanced search, I look it up on Amazon and search by the ISBN. Then I search by ISBN along with title and author on Shelfari and usually find it. (Just happened today, in fact, with my latest wish list book.)

By the way, do you still need a school desk? I always look when I'm at the thrift stores to see if they have one suitable...

Are you in Williamsburg? I really want to see you! If you come over, you can see Fuzzy!
How is the family doing? How's the hamster over there? Everything is fine over here.

Hi, Rita! I saw that you have John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress" on your wish list. Truly a jewel of a book! I read it recently for the first time and I am so very glad I did. Did you know that it is available to read for free online? (Don't tell Amazon! wink, wink) I think you may also download it as a pdf. Here is the link: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/bunyan/pilgrim.titlepage.html
They have a number of wonderful Christian classics available like this such as "Confessions" by Augustine and "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas À Kempis. You can also search the book's text. Neat site.
Hope all is well with you... :)

Hi Rita, I've added Blind Eye to my shelf. You will find it fascinating and terrifying...it is non-fiction about a guy who impersonates a Dr. right here in Newport News!

Hey there! So I do recommend my one book, it's great, but I have added a couple more now. :) That just happened to be the last one I'd read- a good one I've read that is. Well I'm missing our meetings and YL so much. I tried to find it here in Wellington, but it's not here- only in Auckland and Christchurch. I look at the pics and wish I could be there. NZ is windy and cool- so I'm enjoying the climate change as I'm sure you are. My cousin and I found a neat church that we've gotten involved with. Good stuff- hope you and fam and great and enjoying it there. Any YL there?? I wish I could go to your house right now and hang out!

Dear Ms. Stryker: It's me, Givie. This is my mom's Shelfari because I don't have one yet. We have to figure out how to register me using Mom's email address. I miss you here in Virginia. It's weird not seeing your face around school. Love you, Givie
P.S. The second grade room is still in the same place, if you want to drop by. I read Boston Jane! ;) It`s the best!!!

    Rita,

Since you are living in Colombia, perhaps you and your kids would be interested in reading a book together that's on my shelf, "Bruchko." It is a true account of a 19 year old who was captured by the Motilone Indians who were still living a very primitive life and the impact he had living out the Gospel among them. It's by Bruce Olson.

I've not read it yet (it was Shae's book when we married), so you may want to scan ahead just to be sure there isn't any material you'd prefer to skip with the kids. Just as a precaution...

But it's been reprinted many times and looks like it would be very good and inspiring. Plus, an interesting read about your host country.

    Peace to you,
    Paulette

HI Rita! Life here in NIcaland continues without all of you but we think of you often. The ladies at Bible study were praying for you on Wed. How is the adjustment? How are the kids liking their new school?
Have you found a ladies group?
DO you ever get updates on Eugenia?
We are super busy and more and more women are coming to House of Hope on Tues (120!!!) and have had many new families move in.
MIke will be in Ecuador in Nov. for 2 wweks of teaching pastor's conferences. Hope will be 16 on Wed. Hard to believe.
Want to check out your books.
    Thanks!

    Hey Rita,

I am working most on M, W, and F. I teach one class on T, Th. Since I am part-time, I have stayed on the board. I roll off this year. It is exciting at the school with a great leader at the helm. The school is growing and we are hoping to build in the next two years.

I finished my PhD this year. I am not sure what the future holds for me. Trevor still requires a great deal from us, so working full-time right now is out of the question.

I enjoyed seeing Maggie this summer. What a beautiful girl! She seems to know what she wants to do. Good for her!
