I'm right in the middle of the pack known as "BabyBoomers!" A child of the sixties, coming of age in the 70s, a professonal since the 80's, I've always been the one with annoying questions. I need to know "Why" and "How." The "why" question gets an occasional answer through my spiritual practices (going to church, singing with the choir, teaching and occasionally preaching--yes, I'm a minister of the Presbyterian ilk!) Plus Im exploring new spiritual practices also. Am involved with Companions on the Inner Way retreats (see the "Retreats" link at http://www.seventhavenuechurch.org/) Anyway, for reading, right now I'm into early church history, learning about the "real" Jesus of Nazara and absorbing his radical teaching of living in the world in such a way that everyone's basic needs (physical, emotional and spiritual) are met. That search continues. Meanwhile, I'm interested in how Jesus, a peaant, ended up becoming the center-piece of a world religion. What powerplays were at work and who were the powerbrokers! So, I'm enjoying books by Bart Ehrman, Dominic Crosson, Marcus Borg, James Tabor, and others. I also like to dabble a bit in Impressionist art, architecture, the science and ecology of nature. « less
