I just joined and will be adding 1000's more books to my shelves as I'm an avid collector and have tons of... more »

That's what I've done. I've read 3 or 4 books since I put The Sweet Trade to the side. If you ever do get around to this one, let me know what you think. Maybe I'll pick it back up and try again.

The two of us are apparently alone in our low opinion of Lindsay Sands' Love Is Blind.

    Sigh.

I see you have "The Sweet Trade" by Elizabeth Garrett on your shelf. I picked this up thinking it would be a great read. However, I am really having a hard time getting past the first chapter. What was your opinion? Is it worth muddling through the beginning?

Thanks for your review of the Nancy Butler Regency novel. I didn't get the book you reviewed, but I just bought two others by her. She sounds like just the kind of writer I'll like!

(And it's nice to meet another Richard Armitage fan! LOL)

I just noticed your name when I looked up a book. Have you read Mary Balogh's "Beyond the Sunshine"? If so, how did you rate it. I tried to find out myself, but your shelf has so many books, it wouldn't come up!!!

    Hi Laura!

North & South is also a favorite of mine. I absolutely love the ending! Have you read the book as well? I'm considering reading it... I just hope that it'll be as good as the film.

    Merry Christmas!

Hi. Thank you for adding me as your friend!
Your collection is impressive. I found many books I have, but I haven't managed to read them yet. You seem to be very specific about what you like or not? I'm a picky reader too. lol
And I'm curious if our tastes are simillar. I'm looking forward to reading your reviews in this challenge.

Thank you for the invitation - of course I will. What an enormous amount of books you have on your shelf! And we have 129 in common - which is nice. I like period romances, too - but as you said I have many likes besides, as you do. The one thing so far that I think I'll stay with: don't like vampire romance. I couldn't even get to where "she meets him"! My imagination won't go there, so I'll sit that one out for now. Twilight, also, I guess - although all the young folks are into it.

I am author of book " Afghanistan A Volatile Country" . This book reveals what lies beneath the surface of Afghanistan’s current political and social mindset and also the so called war on terror which unleashed the terror in Pakistani society. I am an insider and not like those journalists who come and stay for some days and go back and write book with specific picture in their mind as they do not know what is happening in the streets and what pain a common man is going through. I am afghan by heritage. My forefathers migrated to Pakistan from afghanistan. I am working as a lecturer in a university in Islamabad which is capital city of Pakistan. In 1980s i remained in touch with the afghan resistance against Soviet occupation of afghanistan. This is a country which is never being ruled by any foreign force. British also failed to break their defense line. After that there was era of peace and love in this country till 1977 which I discussed in detail. Than came Soviet invasion which was resisted by afghan civilians as afghan army supported the soviets. Pakistan hosted millions of afghan refugees during Soviet invasion. Soviet Union collapsed while fighting here and than civil war erupted leading to the conditions in which Taliban rose to power. Now US troops are facing same kind of problems in Afghanistan. I also discussed women issues in this country including how Meena was killed for raising her voice on women issues and also discussed life of parliamentarian Malalai Joya as she is banned from coming to parliament because of her vision for women. The book is available from amazon.com
