Please DO NOT send me group invitations. I simply don't have time to keep up with anything in any group anymore, as I'm so busy with college life and am choosing not to participate in groups. Sorry. Thanks. Feel free to note me anytime, though. Moving on...

I'm a HUGE fan of the musical, Wicked, and so I thought I'd try my hand at reading the novel, thinking it would give me lots and lots more background information on what they play is based off (which, of course, it should.) But I wasn't expecting a Lord-of-the-Rings-like information overload that gave me a migraine after a three-days' attempt. Elphaba was barely to Shiz University and hadn't even met Galinda yet before I had to give up. I do want to give it another try, though, and soon; but I think this book is one that needs to be read over a long period of time and very slowly, in order to be enjoyed. That's my thoughts, anyway. Thank goodness (pun fully intended!) my British Literature teacher (who owned the copy I was reading) warned me about the information overload, as much as I was a great reader, or I might not have survived reading the entire book (had I actually gotten through it.) But like I said, I want to give it another try and I may edit my review once I finish... if I finish... the book.

Well, I can say this for many different books: I've gotten spoiled by the movie (first.) I've seen the movie too many times to count, and so, when I picked up the book and saw how small it was and that it was, surprisingly, not a very high reading level, I was immediately turned off. I read bits of it, and I admit, I was really looking for the part of Mae's hanging where Jesse and Miles get shot and then come back up again and the shooter screams bloody murder and thinks he's seeing the devils and all that (from the movie), and when it wasn't there, I was disappointed. But I was just overall disappointed with the book. Mostly, I guess, because I was spoiled by the movie first (which is wonderful, by the way.) But if you want to read it, go ahead. Your impression and opinion may be far different than mine.

Read this book as our final book (of five total) for my Novels class. While it wasn't the best of all five we read in total, we all enjoyed it, if it's possible to enjoy a book about such a horrific period in human history. This isn't a criticism, but most of us felt the book was pretty tame by Holocaust standards, perhaps because of censorship or some other reason (my teacher said it wasn't because of censorship, though.) We read other much more graphic recounts of the Holocaust and they had a much bigger impact on us. The ending of this book, too, is much too quick. Suddenly, after this tale, it's over, bang, about that abruptly. But it was a good read. I can only imagine just how quickly all those people who lived through it and survived it had to harden themselves. They had to harden themselves to survive. It's amazing what the human body can endure when it has to. God Bless all the survivors, and to those who died, rest in peace.

This book was very good. I couldn't put it down for the first, like, 12 chapters of Amari's journey from the only home she'd ever known to the slave ship to wherever they were trapped to going to. After that, and the character change to Polly (which was quite unexpected and took me a long time to adjust), I didn't like it as much, but it was still good and I'm glad I finished it. Boy, shocking ending, though. I mean, it was both expected and totally shocking, if you pay attention to what is leading up to it. But I really liked it.

I suppose this book is really for background use for those who haven't read Harry Potter yet, or to help them out while they're reading, but I own it and enjoy it, even though I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. It doesn't just cover Harry Potter terms, it goes through lots of general mythology. There isn't much in it anymore that I don't have memorized now (not just about the Harry Potter stuff, either), but I still like it and recommend it to any up-and-coming, new Harry Potter and mythology fans.

I read this book for a novels class I'm in. I thought it was OK. Just an average read. Kind of slow, but then again, that fits a small Montana town during the 40's, I suppose. I liked it, though, because it was nearby to home (I live in North Dakota.) And I knew all along that Frank (the doctor) was guilty; the evidence was undeniable. Average read, but I liked it OK. The ending was sad, and unfortunately for me, spoiled by a classmate (she told me the ending; for sake of spoilers for other readers, I won't put it here. But trust me, if you read it and find out, without it being spoiled, your reaction will be completely different than if you don't get it spoiled by someone else.)

Unfortunately, I had to read this book for a novels class. It is the first book of five that we are going to read in the quarter's time. I found this book horribly slow. It was all stagnant throughout the entire thing (the people, the environment, the situation- everything), and for most of it, I felt like I was literally suffocating. This book, while most are moved and may call it a bestseller or highly recommend it, was a major disappointment to me. I will never read it again, ever. That is a promise.

I never really care about age groups appropriate (or not appropriate) for a book. But I do think that, suddenly, in this book, the age group has expanded too quickly to only including young adults and adults, when Twilight and New Moon were originally meant for pretty much anyone who could read at that level.

I didn't feel this book progressed much at all. All it seemed to be about, to me, was the tension, and release of tension, between the werewolves and the vampires. The release of this tension came when they had to band together to defeat Victoria - and succeeded, I might add.

But I was so looking forward to Bella marrying Edward, and when that never happened (it was rarely even spoken of, except in arguments and outbursts by Bella and Edward), she never turned into a vampire after graduation, like she said she would, because she realized she really wasn't ready - well, with all the hype about that in New Moon and Twilight, I was really, really hoping she would have.

Overall, Twilight is fantastic and will always be on my top 10 list, most likely. New Moon was really good, because I liked the connection Jacob made with Bella; he helped her heal while Edward was away, after she somewhat went insane. But he never left her, no matter what, which I think proves him to be almost better than Edward. Still, nothing beats vampires, but it at least gives the werewolves more credit. I'm glad that Bella and Jacob finally told each other that they loved each other more than friends, and that, in a way, they saved each other, too. But Bella still loves Edward more, and she and Jacob agreed on this, so I'm hoping for a better reprieve from all unanswered questions, and especially a wedding, in book 4, Breaking Dawn. But Breaking Dawn won't be released until well after I graduate, so I'm very disappointed by that. But I will have to check it out anyway.

Yes, I'm rating it a 1 - look at that, Tolkien fans! Although I love the movies (yes, yes, yes, Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom and others!), I've never liked the books. Sure, sure, I've read the series a couple of times (it is not a trilogy, Tolkien said!) but I don't like it much, especially the Hobbit.
