ROOTS, I REMEMBER WHEN THE SERIES STOPPED EVERYONE UNTIL IT WAS OVER. PEOPLE FROM EVERYWHERE, STOPPED TO WATCH AND LISTEN TO ROOTS, WHITE, YELLOW, BLACK ETC. THIS WAS A POWERFUL STORY ABOUT OUR ANCESTORY, BUT ESPECIALLY ALEX HALEY'S FAMILY. HIS WRITTING ABOUT THIS TOLD THE WORLD SLAVERY WAS A REAL THING. I REMEMBER MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILY BEING BRANDED WITH THE LETTER (S) ON ONE OF MY GREAT GREAT GREAT UNCLES CHEST. IT IS SAD TO NOT KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE AND WHERE YOUR ANCESTORS CAME FROM. WHERE WE COME FROM AS A RACE AND A PEOPLE. ALEX HALEY ALWAYS GETS A HIGH 5 STARS FOR HIS WRITING OF ROOTS AND THE NEXT GENERATION OF ROOTS. ALEX HALEY FOREVER CHANGED MY WAY OF THINKING, AND GROWTH IN THIS WORLD WE LIVE IN.

I almost could not read this book, but i took my time and gained the knowledge of what went on with our ancestors and slavery. I remember having a great, great, great-uncle who was branded on his chest with a big S on his chest. And as a child i always wanted to know what it was. As a child i was shooed away from asking the questions. But now as an adult, my mother and other family members talk about it, those who are still alive to remember. Sad the way our people were tortured, oppressed, and denied so much. I still have a hard time talking about it.

Baby of the family was an excellent read. Baby of the family, Ugly ways and The hand i fan with all connect together, regarding the young lady who the story is about in Mulberry Georgia. Tina McElroy Ansa did a good job, i could not put either one of the books down until the end. Great writting.
