I think we are both reading the same issue of Library Journal! I was reading the Reader's Shelf this morning. When I went to add "American Pie" to my shelf, I saw you just added it! You also added "Ride of Our Lives" from the same article. Following in your literary footsteps!

Who knew I would ever have three books on my "reading" shelf that were written by men! Not a female author in sight. I've come a long way, baby!

Thanks! I was glad to finish it so early this year!

My favorites from my challenge that I wouldn't have read otherwise are Sweet and Twenty, Mr. Ding's Chicken Feet, East of Eden, and White House Chef. I appreciated reading Dracula even though I did not love it.

What were your favorite books of 2010?

I don't know if the steampunk genre is my thing, but I suppose I'll give it a whirl...maybe during X-mas break.

Did you know that Nancy Pearl has written a book that is PERFECT for you??! Book Lust to Go: Recommended Reading for Travelers, Vagabonds, and Dreamers looks great. I read the first three sections on Amazon's "Look Inside" feature. Also, when I looked at the index, I found two out of the five travel books you recommended to me: Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven & Honorable Bandit!

I ordered a copy of Mr Pip for myself on Paperback Swap. It's sitting on my library table waiting to be read. I finished East of Eden last night and I did really enjoy it. So different than the movie. I was surprised by it. I never would have read it if not for Kathe's challenge!

Hi Buddy! How are you? I saw that you got on Shelfari just now, so I thought I would say hi. I am at HCC, as you probably realize. I hope you and your mom are doing well. I see that you finished Soulless. It is so good! I have the 2nd one at home. I sent you a little something. I hope you get it before your return to IL!

I'm trying! Never enough time, though! I'm listening to one now that is an odd combination of historical fiction and fantasy set in England during Cromwell's time. It's called I, Coriander. I started it once but didn't like it. Then, I read a review that said the narrator was strong and although it started slow, it got better. The reviewer was right! I miss talking books with my buddy!

I even put the sequel on my to-read list! I only have one more of Marisa's challenge books to read. I think I will read Serving Crazy with Curry or Life of Pi.
