I just bought the ACLS study guide, it is going to be my first certification this fall, any suggestions on further books or study strategies?~Robin
I don't hardly ever see myself as married. I don't wear a ring, but I am kind of weird. I think of myself as more of a free spirit.
I just bought the Diana Gabaldon book. I looked at the Tom Robbins but didn't really think it was for me.
Lol, your dad sounds funny. I have to tell my parents to use their words. What does your dad do? I will definitely check out the books you suggested. Although I don't normally read books with lots of sex stuff. I feel like I am intruding on something private when I do. I would rather have sex with my husband than read about it in books. hehe
Hmm, do you mean her characters are whiny? I like some of her stuff more than others, but yeah everyone has different styles. I just love writing so much. I think mine differs from hers in that she doesn't often have really poetic sentences. I have been told by a lot of people. That some of my sentences sound like they could come straight out of a poem. You could write a non fiction book. I would love to write a historical book one day, but there is so much research that I don't have time to do right now.
Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, I plan to clean it up a bit. It's funny you should mention Jodi Picoult because some of my story elements remind me of hers. The whole thing with national novel month is just to write at least 50,000 words in 30 days. So right now there is no editing. Editing comes after the first draft is done. I am struggling on the long paragraphs, but it is supposed to be a journal and almost every person I have spoken to said they don't put paragraphs in their personal journals. So I ask myself if I add paragraphs will it take away from the realness of this being someone's actual journal. But all those things will have to wait till after November.
Funnily enough this is my second novel. I have one that is almost done, but I put it aside to participate in novel month with a new idea. So many ideas; so little time. LOL Glad you liked it. If you don't mind me asking what did you like about it?
Hey, yeah he me too. I have been in Russia learning to speak the language. I am doing National Novel Writing Month right now so you can go to the below website to see a bit of my writing....http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/225309 Just look at the novel excerpt and then you can tell me what you think. I am planning on posting a new bit of the book today because today is my crazy writing day of at least 5,000 words. Hope you enjoy it.
Hey sorry I haven't gotten back to you, but I have been really busy. Hope to write you soon.
So did you ever finish your time at the University? I am still finishing mine. I have a friend who is medical school right now. He is 24 now so I guess he will be about 28 when he finishes. I also have a friend who is 23 and is in school to become a paramedic. I hope to finish school soon. I am 25 now and hope to finish sometime soon. Yet , with my writing I don't know if I should even bother. How old are you? What do you want to do in medical school?
Yeah, sure. None of them are published. I wanted to do an entire book of them when I have enough. I can't think of a title yet though. I write in long hand (aka I have at least 30 notebooks full of short stories, poems, and story ideas) so I would have to transfer it. How would you want me to get it to you because I doubt I could post it as a note on here. It would be too long =)
Most of my stories are based on things I have heard about or experienced. Then I take the story and add different elements that I think make it a better story. I also love to make stories from songs. I hear a song and envision the story that caused the person to write it. I mostly write short stories about songs that I hear.
My novel is about a girl whose life is ripped out beneath her after her dad leaves her family. Due to her dad leaving her mother commits suicide. It's about the ruining of a family and rebuilding through finding a new purpose.
Haha. Yeah, it can be a challenge to find smart and interesting people in San Antonio. Most of the people I know don't even read one book a year. Whereas I read about 50. So I only have a few close friends who I can actually have a conversation with. Most of the time you have to discuss stupid things with people around here. When you do find someone cool it is like a special treasure! hehe
Thanks for the book rec.Yeah, I only heard Whitehead and it was entertaining, but I didn't buy anything. Thanks for the honest feedback on that. A good reading does not always translate into a good read.Meg
Interesting shelf. Colson Whitehead did a reading down here in Orlando last year. Very entertaining. The book Girls Gone Mild reminds me of a book I bought a couple of years ago and was impressed with called A Return to Modesty by Wendy Shalit.Take care.Meg
Yes, my shelf as well as all my tastes in life are quite eclectic. I'm a nerd so I will read almost anything I suppose lol.
