Owner/CEO of MLJ Recovery LLC- Motivational Speaking & Mentoring
Marion L. Jones is the author of “Poems from within Me, a Recovering Addict,” and a motivational speaker who shares his story of how he made it through his circumstances, highlighting to audiences that there is a way out. Although the book has been a work in progress since 1998, the book became a full-time reality in 2006, a gift he says was given to him by God.
Jones is a former drug user and has been clean and in recovery since October 19, 2005. It was then that he realized that he could help others with his testimonial poems of encouragement.
In retrospect, he knows he was messed up as a child, as a result of his father’s death. During those painful times, he had no clue of the way his life was going and stuffed all the pain and hurt deep inside himself with no one to talk to about what he was going through. For a long time, he didn't even know himself, but he could see now that God was preparing him. Now with such clarity, he sees himself in his son who is sort of doing what he use to do but at a much earlier stage in life. Jones knows that he had to get clean and straighten up to be a better example for his son in order to keep his son from going down that same path.

Sisters of Color
By Marion Jones
Sisters my Sisters uh-uh-uh-uh how beautiful you are.
The different shades of your skin, nothing can beat it by far. From the top of your head, to the bottom of your feet, I know the inside of your heart can be sweet.
Darker you are the better you look. Pecan tan ones are just off the hook. Light skinned ones I could write a book.
Most of our Sisters are spiritual grounded, we should be thanking the Lord, saying, “yes I found her.”
You are our support and our backbone, when we feel down and out and all alone. You then give us comfort when we get home.
We should be able to get real, let them know how we really feel. Because one without the other, you know we cannot deal.
Behind a God fearing man, is a God fearing woman.
We men should do all we can, so listen up my brothers. It is not always about the all mighty dollar.
When, it comes to our Sisters of Color.
Where is your Spot?
By Marion Jones
You are only put here for a season, don’t get mad or upset, god has his reasons.
Somebody will take your spot
God is preparing you and everyone to take someone else’s place. You were not meant to live forever; you will come to the end of your race.
You are going to lose your spot
Losing your spot is not a bad thing, when you are serving the lord. Believing, trusting him, and staying on one accord.
Where is your spot?
There are two places where you can go, one place is Hell, and we know it’s Hot
Another place that is sweet and the streets are paved with gold.
What a beautiful Spot.
Heaven Bound
Last Stop
So realize you will have a spot.
You will lose a spot, but you will get a better spot with our lord and master.
Your final destination and question,
Where is your spot?

I was too scared to go outside; looking just that bad all I did was smoke and hide. I would wait until it got dark, because that is when the party starts.
But in the back of my mind something goes....

I can remember chasing the high of my first hit. Lost my whole paycheck, went into debt, and at the end having a fit. Constantly in and out of rehabs with no self-esteem, blaming everyone else for my drugging, I just did not want to stay clean.
Got a moment of clarity and something went....

It happen, I could not take it no more. With the Lord's help, I was able to put that pipe down and walk out the door. No more do I have to wake-up sick.
Listen... listen, do you hear it? ... ssshhhh, there....
