I'm still at the same place. Got distracted by another book. Will catch up tomorrow.

Hey, I like ice cream too! lol. Your daughter sounds adorable! You will tirn her into a reader, i'm sure!

You know ypur blood is thin because of all that good southern food! I'm glad you were able to find a job for the holidays, our economy is so bad. I hope all these grand plans Congress has will be enough to help.

I wonder if the humidity makes people feel hotter even when its cold outside. I know when we have friends from the West visit in summer they die and it isn't nearly as humid in Ohio as it is in Louisiana.

I'll be thinking about you as you get ready to start your job. Good luck and happy reading!

You might be interested to know that the rights to a movie were bought even before the book was released. The movie will be out sometime in 2010.

I like it so far; I think she is trying to copy the spirit of the original Stoker novel with how she is telling the story and the style in which it is written. This is easier for me to read than 'Dracula' though, but I like having read that one first. Perhaps some things that might happen later on will only make sense if one has read it or at least knows the history behind it.

I am with you, let the quirky and odd times roll! :) Life is serious enough don't you think?

The book you are referring to is "The Hungry, Hungry Caterpiller" and it is very popular. The illustartions are wonderful and you are so right! Two year olda are all about the pics, but don't despair she will be in the fairy tale faze before you know it!

Congrats on your job. I am sure you will do a wonderful job. It is always stressful to walk into unfamiliar settings, but you are such a friendly person with a winning personality, you will have many new friends and colleagues before you know it.

I am fine, I have had a sore back for a while, which is frustrating, but it has to get better soon , I HOPE! It is very cold here in Ohio and I think that makes it worse so today I am staying in and reading.

Lily will be fine in day care, just keep loving her and spending time with her. Children are very resilient and do better with change than we give them credit for.

Hope you have a good week, get a picture book and find your inner child! :)

Take your time; I started another book club book today after finishing 'Ghostwalk' by Rebecca Stott. I started 'A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier' by Ishmael Beah today. It's only 218 pages. So short, but hard subject matter. I'll wait for you to catch up.

Thank you so much for your kind words! As you can tell, I like to share my thoughts on what I read (almost as much as I like to read). I wish everyone would do the same! I am a retired lawyer who went to work part-time for minimum wage in a book store. I can make a reading wish list from reviews completely polar to my views just as easily as I can make a list from those that read what I do. Normally, I don't read "Romance," but so many friends of mine do. I will refer them to your comprehensive shelf to make their reading wish lists!

Dragon Rider by Cornella Funke. Its about a homeless boy who finds a dragon and they have a great adventure together. I really enjoyed it myself.

Magyk by Angie Sage. A great series sort of like Harry Potter. And it has dragons in it also.

I have read Funke and Sage myself and loved them. Both are for all ages. I also read Funke's other works and found they weren't has good as this book. Sage's series is four books. Magyk is the first. And that is how she spells it.

    Hope it works out.

Are you saying i'm odd? LOL!!

Seriously, I can understand your confusion.I tutor young children mostly in reading, although I am starting to work with middleschool age students now so I will probably have a lot more YA lit on my list.. I do have children but they are grown and don't live at hime anymore.

My daughter works at a library and she has recommended several good children;s books. They are kinda fun to read though, I enjoy them!

Did you have a nice weekend?

My version has 656 pages. I'm on Chapter 15. I'll slow down. I've got two other books I should concentrate on progressing in. :-) Page 94 in my book was actually chapter 13, so it'll make more sense if I keep you updated on the chapters.

Alright. Sounds good. I read a little bit today, but only a few pages. I'm barely over 100. I think you'll have no problems catching up to me. I'll probably focus on some other things for the next few days so I don't too far ahead. Also, which edition are you reading? I have a hardcover.

    Hi!
How is your intimidating book going? I have not read much at all today. Haircut, shopping, etc, etc, etc.
I am hoping to get some reading done this weekend. I am learning so much about books, reading and how I feel about it all. My big revelation? Life is too short to finish a bad book!

    Have a happy, reading weekend!

Hahhaha, it's all good. Since I read more than one book at a time, it varies how much I read of a particular book. If I have a goal, I am much better about it. I have a book club and we read one book per month. My mood often determines what I will read on a given day.

My shelf is up-to-date, so you can see what all I'm reading. My computer sits right next to me at all times, so the very second I finish a book, I change the status on my page. I think that there's a good chance I'll finish 'Ghostwalk' in the next few days if I really go at it. I too have a distraction who is 7 months old. We just put up her crib so her former bassinet is now her play pen. Hee hee. Heee heeee. Hee. So yes, I do put her in there so I can score extra reading time and not have to worry that she'll discover some interesting lint on the carpeting. She's very good at entertaining herself.

Whatever pace you want to do works well for me. As long as I'm not slacking in my book club duties, all is well!

So I've advanced a bit in the book since posting that original note. I'm on page 94 currently. I plan on reading a bit today, but will probably switch over to another book toward the end of the night. I haven't read this for a few days, and I'm dying to get a little bit further. But when you start it, I'll stop so you can catch up!

I did finish The Historian! Loved it. I rushed right out and bought Bram Stoker's Dracula. I got the Barnes & Noble classics edition which has some cool notes in the front from a scholar. In reading Dracula, I see where the author of the Historian got a lot of her inspiration! Stoker's book is definitely worth reading as well. Enjoy!
