I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves. ~Anna Quindlen, "Enough Bookshelves," New York Times, 7 August 1991

It is the epitome of my day to curl up with a new book and some hot cocoa! I have always loved reading since a young age and now as a junior high school student I have graduated from a self-proclaimed book worm to an admitted bibliophile. Finding a new gem you have never read before and...

What an intense, clever, heartbreaking, gut wrenching story. I ripped through it-- perhaps too fast to put all the pieces of the mystery together before the end-- because I just HAD TO KNOW what happened to these two girls downed in occupied France. I highly recommend this book, but with a few caveats. First, this is an grueling and realistic account of life as German prisoner of war. It takes a strong stomach to hear about the torture, even though it almost all takes place off-page. Second, it is a great read-- and probably a teachable one-- but it is certainly for kids in 9th grade and up. The language and gritty reality of the novel are a bit much for the MS set. That said, it is a smart and terribly engaging novel. Not exactly a beach read, but a searing one, nonetheless.

    The Graveyard Book

Wow! I loved the tone of this book-- a bit macabre, a bit clever, and oh so British. It reminded me a bit of a darker Harry Potter. The chapters hang together, even though the book feels a bit like a collection of short stories. I loved this book, and think it would be perfect for the precocious...

I loved this book, and think it would be perfect for the precocious 5th grader and up through the open-minded 8th grader.

Really, just excellent adventure story-telling. If you liked Scott Westerfeld's _Leviathan_ series, you'll love this. Oppel creates a sumptuous world with delightful characters all doing extraordinary things. Girls and boys will find heroes here.

    The FitzOsbornes at War

I've loved this series. I found this last book to be a bit long with a too-fast wrap-up at the end (maybe that was the way the War felt to Sophie, too?), but I'm so endeared to these characters, I kept on reading. It is well-worth the time.

I love to read, and previously, I pooh-pooed the idea of reading books electronically until I was given a Kindle Fire for Christmas. Now, it's rarely separated from my hand. I'm constantly searching for books to download, and I'm reading books by authors that aren't even in the public library...

I go by the name K'Breante'. I draw and I well... I read. I read lots of genres, but I'm also a gamer. I try to balance out the two, but in the end I get consumed into one of them and stop doing the other for awhile. Fiction, is where I live and Non-Fiction is my vacation spot.
