Young Adults (reading level)

  1. The Immortals: Book 1

    Evermore

    by Alyson Noël

Notes for Parents: Profanity is scattered around in this book, so if you are keeping your child away from that kind of language, it's best not to let them read it, however it's not terrible. Jealousy and violence is in a few chapters, but not so bad that teens can't read it. Iffy for 12+

  2. Extreme Devotion: Book 2

    More than Conquerors

    by Kathi Mills-Macias

Notes for Parents: great for teens, and adults.

  3. This book is based on Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

    An Eclipse Novella

    by Stephenie Meyer

Notes for Parents: Scenes of violence.

  4. The Twilight Saga: Book 4

    Breaking Dawn

    by Stephenie Meyer

Notes for Parents: Graphic birthing scene, sexual content, violence, mature subject matter. Not intended for children under 12. If your child is more mature this book would be fine but younger children shouldn't read it.

  5. The Mortal Instruments: Book 1

    City of Bones

    by Cassandra Clare

Notes for Parents: It's a wonderful read for adults, teenagers and mature tweens alike. It's filled with excellent vocabulary, and is well written. There is some romance which leads to kissing but nothing graphic or vulgar. There is also violence, though none is particularly graphic either. The humor in the book can be of mature nature at times (innuendos). I highly recommend this novel to any and all fantasy readers. It's an excellent, well thought and wonderful book which is part of a thoroughly entertaining series.

  6. Belgarath the Sorcerer

    by David Eddings, Leigh Eddings

Notes for Parents: Some references to sex outside of marriage. Belgarath also went through a period where he was depressed and drunk all the time. It doesn't place that in a positive light, however.

  7. The Twilight Saga: Book 1

    Twilight

    by Stephenie Meyer

Notes for Parents: Contains vampires, werewolves and other supernatural, mythical creatures. Some violence, intense action.

  8. The Virtual Saga: Book 3

    The Guns of Mars

    by Martin T. Ingham

Notes for Parents: This book is suitable for anyone13 and up. It has no explicit sexual content, nor any language that you wouldn't hear in your average PG-13 movie. It might be suitable for some younger children, depending on their mental development, though there are some complex sociological issues which might escape them.
