The life of the mind is most sacred, yet most reviled in today's soundbite world where "fancy booklearning" and "egghead yahooism" is derided. The learned are spurned as outcasts and fools. Those who revile the creators of our modern world and its technological conveniences should be forced to live without those conveniences. The Brooklyn Bridge was not designed and engineered by the village idiot; no book-shunning ignoramus captured and harnessed the power of electricity; GPS and the iPod were not the brainchildren of brainless children. Those who are proud of their illiteracy and suspicious of intelligence should be driven out of the Pale and into the wilderness, where there would be much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the darkness. Might teach them a thing or two about **proper order.**
Those of us who appreciate the life of the mind, high art, and the apex of civilization, will never capitulate, will never give in, will never give up, will never stop. From my cold dead hands you will pry the keys of learning and the knowledge of our world's and our universe's history.
