Interesting topics--have you discovered any insights that will revolutionize society?

I work in international trade and enjoy seeing the world. History is so much more exciting when you've visited the very locations where everything changed.

You grew up in Great Britain? That's so cool. I've always wanted to visit London! Someday!
Someday I would love to visit India too. Have you ever read Shantaram? Probably my favorite book of this past year. It's set in Bombay. If size doesn't intimidate you (it's 700 or 800 pages long) you should check it out and let me know what you think! :-)

Dear Raul - thanks a lot
i think one book that i read and thought touches the human side of life is City of Joy - another book i will suggest is The Alchimist -written in a very simplistic way but it gives a very exhilirating feeling

i didn't much care for the bridges of madison county... i found it a little contrived as i do the message you sent me which you sent verbatim to several of my friends... (where is the creativity in that?) please keep in mind this site is for serious booklovers.

    Hi

Thanks for being so liberal compliments. I am a very moody writer and write just once in a while, when some thought/idea start raking up my creative instinct.

If you want to read a real sad book, then go for Memoirs of a Giesha. Another good read can be The Cold Mountain. You may get a distict Gone with the Wind kind of feeling with the latter. Another quick and good read is The Lady and the Unicorn, which has its own elements of pathos. I also find Sons and Lovers quite heart-wrenching. In classic literature the Hunchback of NotreDame also has a sad story to tell (a very "beauty and the beast" appeal). Gita Mehta's The River Sutra is a collection of stories that can leave you with much food for thought.

Take your pick and enjoy your time with the books.

I'm a stay at home mommy at the moment. I plan to return to school in the spring. I 'm going to major in English. I'm eagerly pursuing a career as a copy editor. Aside from my being an avid reader I'm also trying my hand at writing. I have never left the country sadly. I'd love to travel but I just haven't had the opportunity.

    Hi Raul
You certainly have a different take on TLTW&TW - very creative thinking! Yeah, I agree Little Princess is pure innocence - a classic.
Do you mind if I defer from adding you to my friends list at present - no offence intended ok?
