    Hi!

    I love your avatar!

The Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group recently hit 100 members, so we're kicking off a 100-Member Celebration! Details are available on the group site. Hint: It involves a drawing for some gift certificates, and participation is required in order to be eligible for the drawing :-) Come celebrate with us!

Also, we've announced that our summer group read will be Leif Enger's newest book: So Brave, Young and Handsome. I'm reading this book right now and will have the discussion thread up by next week. The thread will be available for discussion this entire summer.

    Hi Randy,

Just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you that the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group has chosen some good books to read and discuss together during the upcoming months. Our Group Read for the months of September/October will be The Master Butcher’s Singing Club by Louise Erdrich and the group read for the months of November/December will be Growing An Inch by Stanley Gordon West. Both books are by Minnesota authors.

I invite you to join us in reading and discussing these books. Personally, I’ve started reading The Master Butcher’s Singing Club and I think it’s going to make for a great discussion. It has some very interesting characters!

P.S. I'm glad to "meet" a fellow reader who has also read and enjoyed The Summer of Ordinary Ways. My review of the book is also posted here on Shelfari if you want to check it out.

I hope you are able to join us in reading and discussing The Master Butcher's Singing Club. I'm about half way through it and it reminds me of Summer of Ordinary Ways in many ways. It's about small town life and the very normal and quirky characters that live there. Somehow I think you would like it.
