Woo hoo! While you're at it, don't forget one of my favourites, the guy from across the atlantic, Edgar Allan Poe. His stuff still delivers the right punches, especially the horror ones. Perry Mason is one I never warmed up to- I prefer Hadley Chase if I have to go down that path.

I'm fine- not too much to complain about. Weathering the recession and just about managing to hold on to my job through the perfect storm. Otherwise everythings is perfect and I wouldn't like to change a thing - work, gym, Floyd and of course reading! Read Archer's "Sons of Fortune" over the weekend. A rather filmy tale, yet couldn't stop enjoying it. Thinking of continuing with Milan Kundera's "Unbearable lightness of Being" - a book I stopped in the middle.

Hi! How are you doing? I just read Woody Allen's new one- "Mere Anarchy" and I was definitely not disappointed. Try it out.

    Hi,

Feynman's book is one my best time read and its also one of the all time best sellers. Its light, having a deeper meaning...asking very basic questions and how did he try to find them out. Richard Feynman was phycist, nobel lareate and a legendary teacher. This book also illustrates his genius...totally comfortable whether be it quantum dynamics or humour and fun.

I've read some in my time. "And then there were none" is definitely very good. I liked "Endless Night" as well. I think I mentioned this before, but I like Christie best when she gets out of the Poirot-Marple mould- you know the independent ones, like the books mentioned above.
"Hound of Death" seemed an ok buy. I'll definitely pick up the more celebrated ones- Curtain, Orient Express and the like.
I like Poirot- I've developed an acquired taste for his arrogance. Marple is more down to earth and lacks that flamboyance.
Do you like Marple more? Maybe we can blame this difference of opinion on a social fact- sexes think differently!
Trust me to hold forth on pop science!!!

Arre! No no no. See even if I wanted to, I can't wholeheartedly devote myself to CFA. I log into Shelfari when I am in office. I need this. And you never bug me :)
Tell me more about the English patient. Is it good? I've neither seen the movie nor the book.

Good good. My flatmate constantly dissuades me from reading anymore- CFA looming large over my head. May have nothing to discuss for some months from my side :(. But I'll bounce back- and read books like there's no tomorrow once its over. Its my oath; to myself :)

You never stop reading, huh? You are on an incredible streak. I dumped Morrie for Satyajit Ray's "Our Films Their Films"- its quite interesting. You get to learn a lot about the art of movies.

Matheran? How long does it take from Mumbai?
No travel plans for some time now. May travel to Coorg in October. Heard its a nice place.
Reading Tuesdays with Morrie. Put it off for quite some time, thinking its another self-help book but so far its been decent. The spirit of the old man is indeed inspiring.

    Hyderabad actually. No rains here.
I always have lots of books in the "I am reading" list, but not enough will to go the distance. Feeling restless these days. Thought travelling will help, but it didn't. Went to Lonavala-Khandakla last weekend. First time. It was breathtaking in the rains.

Me good too. Only if it rained a little here.
Just finished Fourth Estate by Jeffrey Archer. Same old Kane-Abel storyline, but it grew on me. Not too bad a read, but then its wiser to invest your time on something else- its a 700 page tome which require some time to finish. Damn CFA is looming large and guess will have to slow down on reading. Truth to be told, I have slowed down already. I see you are at it actively. I see new books being put up every time I log in.

I can understand your penchant for legal battles :). Will pick it up as soon as i finish with "Fourth Estate"- a frankly uninspiring book. Typical Archer, with two personalities- one starting out impoverished and the other born with a silver spoon. But thanks to my politeness, I'll finish it! I find it a deeply offensive thing to pick up a book and not finish it- though I've admittedly done so sometimes :)

Hey. Saw that you're into the "Prisoner of Birth"- let me know how it is after you're finished. In the meanwhile, I've kinda got over my "no reading" phase- I finished "Bridget Jones Diary". I've posted the review- I didn't like it so much.
There's a friend of mine who's come up with a slightly wacko idea- a book club of sorts. We make a blog, and the first assignment is to read War and Peace (@1 or 2 chapters a day). Then at the end of the week, or 2 times a week, you post a review. That way we systematically finish the book and hope to learn stuff we separately could have never uncovered. War and Peace has been chosen because its easier to put it down- contemporaries have a pace which encourage you to go beyond a chapter or two in a day. The order will break down in case of such a book. But you can obviously suggest a similar book in case you're interested.
Anyway details can come later- in fact we'd like everyone's participation in planning. Just let me know whether you're interested.
An afterthought- all crazy ideas should be given a try, at least once :)
