Hmmm...something about myself? I obviously love love to read! My weakness is Fantasy and SciFi, but I find myself truly satisfied by books from various genres. Favorites range from Pride and Prejudice to the God of Small Things to 100 Years of Solitude to the Dark Tower Series.

I am currently working with children with autism and...more »

Ohhhh I love love love the Alchemist, my mom and my sister told me to read it. The story in general is great, it's all about a boys journey to find himself and his purpose along the way making sacrifices to get to his tresure, in the process he encounters obsticles that might hinder his journey.

Paulo Coelho has a way of writting that pulls you into the story and you find yourself relating to the character.

I thinks is one you should read. =)

Sister Soulja "the coldest winter ever" it's and amazing book to a definite must read.

Stardust is actually the only book I've read of his so far, but I hope to read some of his others someday. I really liked the movie also. I thought it was very well done and really liked the actors they chose to play in it.

I am a big King fan and have read a lot of his books. I'm currently on book 3 (Wastelands) of the Dark Tower series and although I find it interesting it's not my favorite type of book by King. I definitely like more of his horror style. My favorite King book is The Stand which has a character in it named Randall Flagg who I noticed was mentioned in The Dark Tower.

Lately I'm more interested in fantasy fiction and haven't been reading as much King as I used to. I'm also reading the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop which someone on Shelfari recommended to me. I haven't made it very far into the story since I'm reading it at the same time as Wastelands, but it seems interesting so far.

    Hey Girl,
Well . . . as for the daughter, she's still being a pain. I'm just letting go and letting her do her own thing. She's 19 but acts like she's 15.
As for the interview . . . it went FAB! I have the job . . I'm just waiting on the IT guys to get all the technical stuff in place for these new accounts so I can begin work. I'm so incredibly bored waiting for it to happen. My boss says it's the calm before the storm. LOL
How are you? Hope all is well.

Hi there Ramya! I'm sending this by personal message because I don't want to antagonize anyone (well, anyone else) in WomenSpeak, but I wanted to say thanks for your support in this cause. This was posted today in Broadsheet, the women's news section of Salon.com (an admittedly super-liberal pundit site):

You know that e-mail everyone's been sending around, encouraging people to donate to Planned Parenthood in the name of Sarah Palin? So far, it has yielded $802,678 in donations from over 31,000 people, from all 50 states, two-thirds of whom are first-time donors. Thank-you notes to Palin, care of the McCain campaign headquarters, will begin going out next week.

    Yay us!

I'm still not even finished. Boo. But I should finish tomorrow, I only have a tiny bit left. Bunnybaby had an idea for our next read. I left a message for her to post it, but she hasn't yet. If she doesn't by the middle of the week, I'll come up with something. Unless you'd like to take the lead. Have you yet?

Hey lady! I posted the discussion questions for Part 4. I'm so looking forward to discussing this section - Rand's themes are so much more apparent. The problems of the collective are really sticking out.

You're right, the Lord of the Rings movie was well done, as well as the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. But P&P was a television series, cause otherwise I could say that Band of Brothers was pretty amazing. I have yet to read Kiterunner. Any good?

What made you angry about My Sister's Keeper? I read a couple of her books, but wasn't very impressed with her writing style or depth, so I never read anything else. Although, at the HS where I did my student teaching, all the girls loved this author. I see you finished the Dave Pelzer books, what did you think?

I started and finished the series The Entire and the Rose by Kay Kenyon. It was only two books, so it is not like it's a huge feat, but it was interesting. I am not usually into Sci-Fi unless it is more political than technological; it was probably half and half. And I never knew who to root for until near the end. Nevertheless, I did enjoy them.
