To my Shelfari friends:
I treat my books like precious gifts, like priceless jewels. Ever since I was about nine years old, when I chanced upon my mother's bookshelf, I was hooked. I was enthralled by Greek and Roman mythology, "The Greatest Short Stories in the World," the Grolier Book of Classics, and the Grolier's Book of Knowledge.
Yes, I did read the Book of Knowledge from A to Z. I don't remember a lot, just that I enjoyed skimming through the pages. Les Miserables and Jane Eyre: I must have read them about five times before I hit 13 years old. Aside from the chick lit books of Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, and Enid Blyton's books about the Mallory Towers, I also read all my English Literature books before my first days in English Lit class. I escaped into romantic land via Mills & Boon (carefully covered with plain bond paper so my parents wouldn't catch me reading the oh-so-tame kissing scenes), a.k.a. Harlequin Romances nowadays. I do not recommend these romantic novels as reading material when you're a teenager because it does color your perception about love and relationships. This is really an "escape from reality" book.
A really hard-to-find book is Norman Lewis's Correct Spelling Made Easy.
I also discovered, while I was selecting the books to put on my shelf, that I have some books that are out-of-print or are not listed at Shelfari. Hmmm.
I enjoy "chick lit" books as a form of escapism for me. And espionage novels. I normally find these books at airport bookstores. Thus, the title, "my airport books."
In my Shelfari bookshelf, you'll see my interests in Eastern Philosophies, Spirituality, self-help --- and about business, communications, marketing, and public relations. I cannot count how many books that are strewn about. It will take some rigid "letting go!" techniques for me to bequeath some of these books or re-gift them. Maybe someday!

Happy reading!
