My main reading interest for the moment is paranormal mystery but I do change reading moods every once in a while.
Magical realism, steampunk, and cyberpunk has been tantalizing my interest lately.
I've also been known to be in the following... more »

Wow. Interior design sounds like it would be fun though. What does she plan on doing with an English major?

Amy I know your reading a million books a min, I just wanted to see if you had been able to pull out DragonFlight to read with us? Today is the deadline, but if you could just add your input from what you remember to the Discussion that would be great. we are going to move onto DragonQuest if you want to join us on that one. Happy Holidays... Cam

    Yes your "book reports"!

I didn't realize you did them for the 50 Book Challenge group, I just joined and I think it is a great way to start off the new year for me! With a goal =D. Thanks for the advice, I hope i can reach my goal if not push past it ;)

Sure, I'd love to check them out. Honestly, it's been so crazy here lately that I haven't been on Shelfari in ages...I need to get back to it!

Hope everything is going well with you. How did your daughter enjoy the first semester? Tyler will be finished on Wednesday. He's loved college.

Look forwards to catching up with you--off to put my girlie to bed...

    I'll do that.
And yeah, I definitely understand the feeling. Though it's good that the first semester wasn't too overwheleming. Did she take a full schedule? I wouldn't pile too many classes on, they will definitely got more in depth. That's how I started too.

Yeah, it's strange how it all works. I guess books are usually released in the northern hemisphere first :D We get a lot of things before New Zealand, don't know how they decide these things :-)

It really depends on the publisher I think. The book content is the same but as you said there is different release dates (ours are later than the US), and often different titles and book covers. Though that is not always the case. I've bought my most recent YA books from Amazon so I've gotten the US versions, however, some of those that have been released here now (a month of so after I received most of them) have the same cover. Sometimes certain hardback books in the States aren't released here, such as "Meridian", i could not get here.

I haven't read Caine's Morganville Vampire series. I may have to go exploring, find "Soulless" and have a look at steampunk, sounds interesting! I know what you mean, my TBR keeps growing.

I multiple read as well, though lately I've been pretty good with finishing a book before I start another but I've got at least three I'm in the part-way or mid-way through reading and a couple of books being sent out which I know I will have to start right away. I've just finished a stack of about 9 or so YA, of those Becca Fitzgerald's "Hush, Hush" really got me. I read that at night and got seriously creeped out so I would recommend it if you like YA. Quite liked a book called "Meridian" also and a Lili St. Crow YA series called Strange Angels.

Lol I like the sound of that! :-)

That's good to hear, I'm glad things are going well (or well enough). I must say I have NEVER had an exam on a Saturday, I think our University educators and bureaucrats like their weekends too much lol.

Not much going on here, we didn't really have big economy problems down here so we weathered the 'GFC' (ridiculous term) pretty well, just regular financial issues haha. I've finished Uni for the year and have actually taken first semester off, so I'm looking at 7 months of freedom (well, from assignments anyways). I've only got 3 semesters left and I've finished, finally!! I'm doing an internship first semester back from my break, and would love to do it at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, so far I'm doing my research. Not much else going on really, trying to read when I can. I've been off since the start of November so I've had a good reading run lol, been getting into teen/young adult fiction recently.

Any new or interesting reads you've had?
