“I absolutely loved it! It's so unusual to find a trilogy in which the second book is even better than the first one, as the second book's aim is usually to "set the scene" for the third one. Scarlet, however, was so much better than Cinder! I found Cinder really enjoyable but some of the twists were predictable to me, while Scarlet was interesting, unpredictable and fresh. I loved the characters, and I am glad that another strong female heroine was introduced: I couldn't wait for Scarlet and Cinder to meet! I loved all the other new characters, and Iko's new "form" is brilliant! I loved the references to fairy tales (the "Wolf", the red hood, the missing grandmother) but I also really liked the way the author changed the story and developed it: for example, I loved that the idea of the Wolf changed in this book, as it is not only a predator but also a scared animal, and in this sense Wolf's character is really interesting and fascinating.
I also liked the way we still got to see what the emperor and Levana were up to, and Thorne was a brilliant addition to the story too! He reminds me of Han Solo a little, with his humour, his ship, his being the "captain", his quest for finding the princess... :)”
