A lifelong bibliophile with a preference for fiction--mysteries, general fiction and romance. I belong to two online book clubs. I read for fun and enjoy discussing books. I, also, do an occasional bookcrossing as I believe there are never too many books out in the world. I am adding books to my shelf as I start to read them and... more »

Wishing you luck on your surgery. I didn't want to post on discussion board because a lot on comments there will just explode the board! Look forward to hearing from you again when you get home!

Actually it's one I made last Christmas for my DH. The green zig-zag is rainforest frogs - he loves frogs. In fact, he loves all reptiles but I won't have a quilt of the others in the house! This was probably my third lap quilt ever and I designed it from a table runner pattern I liked. I love the colors in your avatar too - the two avatars look really good together!

Let me know how you like The Pearl Diver. I thought it was much sadder than Molokai. If you like Talarigo's writing, The Ginseng Hunter is very good as well.

Aw, thanks! I really do enjoy the shelving, but I have to admit, with a game going on, it is a lot to keep up with! While on holidays, it was nice to be able to do it 2x per week, but now that I'm back to work, I'll be back to only being able to do it once a week. Well, I'll try to do it during the week, too, but we'll see! :-)

No need to alert anyone! I just really enjoy the "game", so I want to be sure you don't forget. :-)

Hi! I was just wondering if you wanted to post a "Name 5" for the category "sun" over in Booktivity. I'm happy to do so, if you'd like me to, but since it's your game, I wanted to give you the opportunity to post first. :-) Or let me know if you'd like me to post it.

Always nice to meet a fellow Penn Stater :-) We do seem to have a lot of books in common, but I was excited to see another fan of PJ Tracy. I'm new to PBT and some of the other groups here, but I'm slowly learning my way around.

Hi, Jean. Yes, Pat mentioned you at our last MSOE book discussion. It IS a small world! My brother lives in Memphis and is the exec director of a retirement community. One of his residents mentioned Mensa in her bio when she came to live there. It's Mona Hannah!

I was stunned that I did so well at the PBT game. Really lucked out in that my F2F book clubs were reading books that fit the mini challenges.

Hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

Thanks for the suggestion about the store . . .sadly, the tags for bold are already there. But it must not work in that section of Shelfari . . .it's a great idea, and apparently I must have tried it at one point.

Thanks for the suggestion about the store! I will give it a try :). I thought I had tried to do that before unsuccessfully, but that was a long time ago so it is worth another shot.

Whoops. Just seeing this. I have to get used to this site. I looked up the P. J. Tracy series after seeing your book. I always want to read the first one in the series, well.....first! Now this murder stuff is my cup of tea! :-). I had heard so much about the Friday Night Knitting Club and a friend bookcrosser dropped it off at my house, that I felt I had to read it.
If I read anything re: women, it must be something like, "I Whipped the Wilderness". I like tough gal types. Katherine Hepburn was my kind of gal.

I'll try to give you a few days before I jump on it in the future and start the thread. :-)

Thanks about my kitty pic. He really is solid black, and I'd hoped to find a picture where you could also see his yellow eyes. In the larger image on my computer, I can, but in the smaller avatar for shelfari, they're just not prominent enough. I know I could have found one online, I'm sure, but I like to use pics of my own "boys". Hope you had a fun Halloween!

Hi punxsygal! kolibri has announced the new category in Bootivity. I was tempted to start the thread for "Name 5", but since it was your idea, I wanted to not step on your toes. You usually manage to get there and start the thread before I see the announcement anyway, but I guess I got there first this time. I wanted to leave it to you if you wanted to start the thread, but let me know if it is o.k. if I start it on the occasional time I notice before you do. Thanks!

hi punxsygal, thanks for the note, I'm looking forward to reading a lot for this month's tag since I like books about animals anyway :) I'll never forget Where The Red Fern Grows and our beloved 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Lomshek who read it out loud to us. She was great with kids and had a way of getting everyone involved, even the "bad" kids who thought they were too cool to enjoy books and schoolwork. By the end of the book everyone in class was crying and we all lined up to give Mrs. Lomshek hugs and thank her for the great story. I've never read the book as an adult but I'd definitely pick it up if I find a used copy.

Hey there Punxsy! Just stopping by to "meet, greet, and be sweet" from PBT. Loved looking through your shelf. Beat the Turtle Drum is a book that has stuck with me since I first read it in middle school. It's a favorite that I sometimes forget about. I see that you listened to Alex and Me. That's been on my list for a while. Sounds like I should get to it this month if possible.

I wish I had some good books to suggest, but I don't read a lot of animal books. The three I have on my shelf are all illustrated. Two are graphic novels, the other is an illustrated children's story. All are fantastic. They are Pride by Brian K. Vaughan, A Circle of Cats by Charles de Lint, and Creatures of the Night by Neil Gaiman. They are reall fantastic, quick reads, if you like that sort of thing. Let me know if you check any of them out.

Have a great month of reading!!!

I saw you're reading Enchanted April - I love that book! Hope you like it too. Have you seen the movie? Really good adaptation, and I wish Josie Lawrence did more film work.
