I, also, do an occasional bookcrossing as I believe there are never too many books out in the world. I am adding books to my shelf as I start to read them and... more »

Thanks for the recs! I've read A Town like Alice (my first Shute, in my mother's Reader's Digest Condensed, and then the real thing) but not the other two. I know where I can lay hands on Pastoral, so I'll start there.

Re: Mrs. Mike - I even had a dog I named Juno. (Did you ever see the sequels? If not, consider yourself lucky.)

Hi, I came to see what Shute novels you'd suggest. I added a bunch of books from your shelf to mine, too, since we seem to have similar opinions on the ones we have in common. (I love browsing shelves!)

Hey Punxysgal! I know I've seen your name several times over at PBT as well. I've wanted to read Silent Spring since I first heard about it in my high school ecology class. Almost 9 years ago now and I still haven't read it. I will get to it sooner or later. That would have so neat to have been able to meet her.

As for mysteries, they are my absolute favorite genre. Lately I've been reading a lot of cozy mysteries. I find the quickness and lightness of them fun and good for an evening of light reading that isn't too involved. I'll have to look at your shelf when I'm not at work and have more time to see what mysteries you've read. I might find some to add to my TBR!

Hi Punxsygal, How's it going? I read your review for The Woman Whe Married a Bear. It looks pretty interesting.

The Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group recently hit 100 members, so we're kicking off a 100-Member Celebration! Details are available on the group site. Hint: It involves a drawing for some gift certificates, and participation is required in order to be eligible for the drawing :-) Come celebrate with us!

Also, we've announced that our summer group read will be Leif Enger's newest book: So Brave, Young and Handsome. I'm reading this book right now and will have the discussion thread up by next week. The thread will be available for discussion this entire summer.

Thanks for the game, punxygal. I'm going to think about five that were not mentioned yet immediately. But first I had to stop by and thank you again for your effort. It really is appreciated :)

Hi punxsygal! I'm sorry I'm responding so late to your suggestion. I think that is a great idea and I would be happy if you'd like to care for a thread like you mentioned in your message. It could become a monthly feature then and loads of fun. :)
Please inform me if you are still interested. I think it would be great if you could set up a thread as soon as the new category will be announced (about five days before the new month starts) including the 'rules'. ;)

I hope you had a nice easter weekend.

Ramses is really a piece of work. I skipped around on the series, reading one of the latest 2nd. In poetic justice, Ramses, now grown, has children of his own to try his patience.

Hi there! I'm just dropping by to welcome you to The 100+ Book Challenge. The idea of the group is pretty much self explanatory - try to read 100 or more books in a one year period. If you do have any questions, please feel free to send a message to me or Tenia. In the meantime, good luck reaching your goal!

Play book Tag - I've been curious about "The Fiery Cross" and having read your review, I think I'll pick it up soon and read it. Thanks for the review. I see you also have read a "Rumpole" book, not tagged England which is odd, but you might also try a PG Wodehouse book if you enjoy the Rumpole story. Happy reading!

Thanks...I'm on a flower kick lately, and that photo just seemed to fit my mood today. I've been sorting through a bunch of my photography trying to organize the images. I have quite a few of fall leaves that I may use later this month. :)

Hi! Just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you that the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group has chosen some good books to read and discuss together during the upcoming months. Our Group Read for the months of September/October will be The Master Butcher’s Singing Club by Louise Erdrich and the group read for the months of November/December will be Growing An Inch by Stanley Gordon West. Both books are by Minnesota authors.

I invite you to join us in reading and discussing these books. Personally, I’ve started reading The Master Butcher’s Singing Club and I think it’s going to make for a great discussion. It has some very interesting characters!

    Lynne / Doughgirl5562 – Co-Admin of the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group

P.S. Hopefully there will be a way to work these books into the October 1st Play Book Tag challenge!
