This is a sort of leisure-time reading diary for me (hence mostly novels), except that

1) the books have not been put up in the order that I read them

This is a sort of leisure-time reading diary for me (hence mostly novels), except that

1) the books have not been put up in the order that I read them

2) I don't usually bother to list thrillers, which is perhaps unfair, since they can be gripping, imaginative and well-crafted. On the other hand, perhaps they get enough hype.

3) I don't bother to include books that I dislike unless I find that they leave a lasting impression in spite of my not having enjoyed passing time with them.

I like to browse, ideally in company, to choose what I read, but I don't live near a good book shop... I therefore try to stock up every time I visit a big city. Otherwise, I depend on friends passing books on to me.

I watch no television. This isn't, in fact, because I like to occupy a moral and aesthetic high ground, but because I have almost no self-control. I had a TV for a year, in the course of which I found myself gradually shutting down other parts of my life to be able to spend longer hours watching. « less
