Very well written, easily understandable poems -- for the most part.

This is my mystery novel so of course I do like it. It's set in western NC.

The base for the reasons behind what's going on in "The DaVinci Code" it seems, way too familiar but written differently and many years before Dan Brown's book.

Just another book picking apart poets and their work, a "guideline" so to speak but quite a lot of essays! Not very exciting to read.

I wonder if this book had been written by a woman instead of a man would it have been so well received as when women write stuff like this sometimes reviews say it is stereotyped, etc. I liked this book well enough but kept thinking how much can one woman (the main character) take? I did enjoy the ending; after all that struggle finally a light at the end of the tunnel (being vague here for anyone who hasn't finished reading it). I prefer mysteries so this isn't what I usually read but it certainly isn't the worst thing I've ever read. If you like this one, check out books by John Ehle.

I really liked "Gorky Park" so that's why I picked this one up to read. I found parts of it confusing. There was a lot of stuff in the book that didn't seem necessary and the writing didn't flow well to me. I was disappointed it wasn't better, but I'm still going to check out some of Smith's other books I haven't read.

A magazine review of this book got my interest but after starting to read it I found I just didn't like the way it was written, the jumping around from person to person and the short jolting sentences. I felt like I was reading a prose poem or experimental verse or even a verse novel and if that's what it had been that would've been okay (as a poet I like to read unusual poetry) but it isn't a poetry book. I just gave up and decided to try something else. My reading hours are limited so why read something I don't like?

Good read for fans of the show. Puts Mark at his best sleuth solving.
